  • Tiny travel charger and inverter with modest goals
Sized for affordability and stay well under the 100Whr size limit of the FAA , this well built mini pack offers a variety of power input and output options, as well as a flashlight. The package includes a 120v cord to plug into the side and permit charging. You can also charge with some voltage supply between 11-30 volts supplied to the input via a 5.5 x2.1 dc barrel jack, or the one bi directional usb c port. You get another higher power 45w usb c output, and 2 usb a outputs. They’re different colors, and slightly different outputs- the second USB A is variable voltage up to 12v. The specs are all printed on the bottom of the unit, which is handy because the labels on the front is one area it would be nice to get a bit more data. The higher power port is blue, and this is aligned to the usb standard but it’s sometimes nice to just have it spelled out. It does pass through charging, which is fantastic when you have multiple devices and a single power source to charge them. I had some inkling that I might take this into a plane, so I took a look inside to get a subjective feel for the build quality. I was happy to see what appears to be lots of sealant to counter vibration and movement during use. A very nice single pcb to handle all the power conversion with a small control board for the buttons and output display. The AC bits are diminutive but well executed. I have mixed feelings about the lack of a ground connection in the plug, but I lack the real knowledge to asses if this is an actual problem. The battery in this is listed at just under 90Whr. This isn’t bigger than a standalone larger battery for device charging, but a person gets the ac recharge features and 100w of AC output in this package. This might be useful for charging a laptop or some similar lower power ac task. For instance, it can also power my 24” lcd panel display without any problem. A person that wants to use the ac features is going to have to really be aware of what they can actually do with only 100w. Thats a pretty short leash and I suspect for most people its going to be recharging things that have non-usb c adapters I like the unit overall. If it were larger or marketed towards more severe duty, I’d want to see some moisture handling capability, and covers for the power switches, but this seems like a fine vehicular travel companion to operate in dry clean environments. ... show more

  • Extremely portable and travel friendly
I've been using the Kingboss 100w portable station for a few weeks now for road travel and as a small emergency backup at home and overall it's a solid little unit with a few limitations you should understand before buying. This little guy is extremely portable and travel-friendly, which to me is one of its biggest selling points. At under 100Wh it's airline-safe and very lightweight, making it easy to toss into a backpack or carry-on. The choice to use a LiFePO4 battery over standard lithium-ion is also a major plus. Compared to typical lithium-ion batteries, LiFePO4 are known for longer lifespan and better thermal stability, which should give you more peace of mind for long term use. It includes a 65W USB-C input/output which is genuinely useful. I was able to charge my laptop and phone quickly and it recharges the unit itself much faster than older power banks. You also get a mix of AC, USB-A, USB-C and DC outputs. I've simultaneously charged a laptop via USB-C, a phone via USB-A and a camera battery via DC. This unit has no issues juggling multiple devices. It also includes a built in LED light which is surprisingly handy. While its not a dealbreaker issue, its very useful while camping or during a power outage. The SOS mode is a nice touch. Now there are some things to keep in mind though regarding this device. It has a limited capacity of only 96Wh. This means it's not a device that will power your house, its more of a high end power bank with an AC outlet. If you need to run appliances or go multiple days off the grid this unit will not cut it. The 100W max output means it works great for electronics, but not for high power devices like coffee makers, hair dryers or large CPAP machines. Also its solar input is modest at best. Like many small units the solar charging is limited and relatively slow. Even if you pair it with a higher watt panel the input is capped so don't expect rapid solar charging. I can recommend this device if your use case is for weekend trips, flights and travel (TSA compliant size), charging laptops, drones or cameras, or as an emergency backup for phones or lights. ... show more
