Ok, a couple months ago I snagged a bag of kinetic sand for my son (2 and a half years old) at a store. He loved it, but I would rarely let him play with it because - even if it is easier to clean up than regular sand - he still managed to get it into every crevice, shoe, and tight spot he could find. I ordered him THIS (along with more sand molds) and he LOVES it. I bought all of my nieces and nephews one, I was so happy! Life was great, right? Until it wasn't. Children love this stuff. I love this stuff. But...it's still sand. It was fun and adorable to watch him make dinosaurs and crabs and castles out of the stuff. But after a time, even with the container to hold all the things, he's managed to get himself covered in it and all over the ground. The good part: rolling a ball of this stuff over the fallen pieces picks it right up. The bad part: it can still get into hard to find places/everywhere. Buying a mat to catch spills was a must. I also NOW think the amount it comes with is perfect for kids younger than 5. At first I was of the mind, "the more the better!" Now I realize if you add anymore sand - it'll probably be everywhere lol I almost feel guilty sending my sisters another 3lbs along with their sandboxes! Almost. My 4 year old son loves this. I make sure to place a plastic cover on the floor and let him have fun. It's a bit of a clean up after but nothing crazy. I purchased an extra bag of sand just in case and I was happy I did because the sand that comes in the box it's a bit small. If you love your child to have fun and don't mind a little cleaning afterwards then it's great. ... show more

Relaxing, fun product. Just make sure your hands are completely dry when using it, or the kinetic sand will stick to them. They give 2lbs of sand here and shape - cutters, plenty of supplies.
