This review covers the KIMUSE Color-Changing White Foundation Cream Stick ($26 at time of order; currently $15.50 with coupon). As someone who is perpetually "fair-skinned" and struggles with shade matching, I was curious about the "magic" of a white-to-skin-tone transition and the convenience of a portable stick. The Formula Breakdown (The "Ingredients Nerd" View) Looking at the INCI list, this is essentially a silicone-and-wax-based suspension. The "Magic" Trick: The color change comes from the Mannitol and Zea Mays (Corn) Starch combined with iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492). These are likely micro-encapsulated pigments that "burst" upon friction or pressure, releasing the pigment onto the skin. The Base: With Ethylhexyl Palmitate and Triethylhexanoin at the top of the list, this is a very emollient, oil-heavy formula. While it also contains Niacinamide and Hydrolyzed Collagen, they are near the bottom of the list (below the fragrance), meaning they are likely there for marketing rather than clinical efficacy. The Texture Issue: The inclusion of Silica and Polyethylene is meant to provide a "blurring" effect, but in practice, the heavy waxes (Beeswax and Candelilla) seem to dominate the finish. Application & Performance Trial 1: The Direct Swipe - My first attempt was a disaster. I applied the stick directly to my face and blended with the included brush. While the pigment did adjust decently to my fair tone, the formula was extremely "grabby." It settled immediately into my pores and refused to budge, highlighting every architectural flaw in my skin. Trial 2: The Emulsification Method - I switched tactics by swatching the product on the back of my hand first, allowing my body heat to melt the waxes (Ethylhexyl Palmitate has a high spreadability but needs warmth). I worked the product into the brush bristles on my hand before buffing it onto my face. This significantly improved the finish and allowed for a range between sheer and full coverage, but it still didn't completely solve the issue of the product sinking into enlarged pores. Final Verdict From a formulation standpoint, this is a "heavy" product. Because it relies on Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer to fill gaps, it tends to "flood" larger pores rather than floating over them. Best For: Younger users with high skin elasticity and minimal texture. If you have enlarged pores or fine lines, the wax-heavy base will likely betray you by midday. There should be a no star option. I looked like a clown because it left a white residue no matter how much blending I tried or how long it was on. I tried to request a refund and it said because it was opened and used I would be charged so what sense would that make? Absolutely terrible.

This is a good value for cost as it is very compact and portable. Love that it has foundation and makeup brush all in one. Applies easily and gives effective coverage without stickiness. The color match is very good . Love that it’s infused with other moisturizers to keep skin soft and smooth. It goes on thick then blends in well after application to skin with a makeup brush.
