Description

This powerful stain-blocking water-base formula seals surfaces, helps to achieve a uniform finish, hides stains and previous colors and offers excellent adhesion to most interior and exterior surfaces. KILZ Premium offer just the right consistency for a smooth and level finish that seals porous surfaces and fills in small imperfections. It features mildewcide protection to prevent mildew . With excellent adhesion for most surfaces, use on interior and exterior drywall, plaster, woodwork, paneling, masonry and brick. Ideal for high-humidity areas including bathrooms and laundry rooms. Use for color changes, to seal light to medium stains and to minimize surface imperfections caused by texture and porosity differences. For heavy stains, please consider KILZ Max primer. This is a 5-gallon bucket of KILZ Premium High-Hide Stain Blocking Latex Primer/Sealer in white for interior and exterior surfaces. Covers approximately 300-400 square feet per gallon. KILZ latex primer is a water-based paint that covers easily and dries evenly and quickly. It dries a flat/matte bright white color and it is easy to use. It is low odor and worked fantastically on window frames and all areas I applied the paint. A little goes a long way and it was extremely useful when I was refreshing areas of my home. It serves well primer/sealer/stain blocker. It is a protective paint and I am very happy with my choice. I used this as a primer to cover a dark red wall (based on Brad the Painter's web site recommendation). I possibly could have gotten away with 2 coats but used 3 to make sure the red would be completely cover ( I was going to white from red). I have always used Killz primers. For this purchase, I had a large room that had been painted entirely gloss black: walls and ceiling. It was intended for a children’s classroom. The surface was rough plaster. Only prep I did was light sanding and washing the walls down with TSP. Two coats covered it all, can’t even tell it was ever black. (First coat did cover, but I could tell some areas were a little thinner and looked a little dark). Looked great just with primer on the walls and ceiling, a bit bright even. I went back over it with a standard brand-name paint in a light blue. Looks fabulous. ... show more

We used this to prime interior walls subject to years and years of cigar smoke and basically no cleaning ever. After a serious scrub with TSB and hot water, this product went on and covered the remaining dark spots very well. Nice product to work with, but be sure to clean the surface first--it's not a magic wand, just a great primer. Have a look at what we were up against and what the primer was able to do! ... show more

    • Great at priming but hell on brushes
This is a fantastic primer, with one big caveat. It flows well, levels nicely, and seals like a beast! But... It's wrecked my Purdy XL brush (nylon polyester blend). It was as if I'd painted with Elmer's glue! I didn't overload my brush and I cleaned it twice during a 3 hours painting job, but the brush was wrecked. The bristles are stiff and clumped together. No amount of hot water and wire brush work would restore the bristles. I didn't see any directions on about using (or not using) certain brush types. Bottom line, I now have a brush I can only use for priming, and probably only a few more times before I have to throw it away. ... show more

Worked so well. Covered dark rafters in one coat. Could have gotten away with 1 coat of paint afterwards. Really thick and easy to roll. Even better than previous versions of kilz. Worth every penny.
