The stars do glow after being exposed to light and can only be seen in complete darkness. Great nostalgia. High quality, thick, comes with putty that works fine. They don't hold a strong glow for a super long time, but still visible. Had a great time putting them up with the child.

I had a few of these on my walls as a kid and my son loves stars so I got these. I like that they're 3D and the sticky putty sticks well, you don't have to use much to stick all of them up, and they glow really brightly after they get a chance to charge. Charging didn't take long but they do need bright direct light. I was only disappointed by the fact that there were only like 5 big stars, about 20 medium size and the rest were smaller than my thumb nail. If it had more big stars I would give it 5 stars because those tiny ones were kind of a pain the put up. ... show more

I read a mix of good an bad reviews of this product before placing my order. This product works exactly as described. Lots of stars in the package, many of them were small (less than 1 inch across), but that's not a bad thing, just something to be aware of. There were also plenty of large stars as well so it's a good mix of sizes. It would honestly look boring to only have huge stars. We didn't put up all the stars in the package, as there are just so many. The feel of the plastic felt good, unlike cheap plastic as I was expecting. We put these stars up as a family and that was fun. Our daughter is almost 3 years old and was able to help us stick some on the walls. The mounting putty worked well for us. If it doesn't work well for you, it's not expensive to buy another brand. It's $1.89 at Target for Scotch brand for example. As far as the glow of the stars, you have to charge it using light. Sunlight doesn't work well because by the time it gets dark enough to see the glow, the charge from the sun would have worn off the stars. I've tested the glow with different light sources. LED recessed lights worked well overall to charge all the stars in the room. The most intense glow I achieved was using a high lumen flashlight pointed at groups of stars or single stars. Makes sense, as the more intense the light source, the more intense the glow. I'd buy this product again and would recommend it. Nice gift idea too! Hope this review helps someone =) ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I’ve had these stars installed on my ceiling for 14 days now, and I’m writing to say I’d absolutely recommend!! Some of the reviews had me worried I’d be wasting my (1)money, (2)time, and/or (3)effort by purchasing these stars, but that hasn’t been my experience at all! The tack-putty was easy to use, though I will warn be sure of the star’s placement before pressing it to the ceiling. Moving it afterwards isn’t difficult, but the putty does leave some residue that is hard to remove from ceiling’s surface. Only issue I’ve had was with the first star I put up, didn’t use enough putty. All the others have stuck strong though^^ The among of stars is reasonable—there is certainly more small stars than the medium & large, but you still have a lot to work with from all sizes! As for the glow, they glow wonderfully for me!! I’d suggest taking a flashlight before installation and shining it on the stars to be sure yours function properly so you aren’t left with duds after placing them all. At night, they’re faint enough to not be distracting but bright enough I can still make them out! (and this performance comes from a room who’s main light is rarely on, just the window and closet light throughout the day “charging” them) To achieve brighter stars, I enjoy taking a flashlight at night and spending a couple minutes waking around my room shining the light directly on the stars, to charge them! That is the results you can see in the video/photo I included! (do note though iPhone camera’s ability to make photos appear brighter, hence the screen-recorded video :•) Overall, I am so pleased with this purchase and the comfort these stars have provided!! My attachment to my room has somehow grown tenfold the past 2 weeks, and I’m already lamenting the day I am to move and leave this self-made night sky behind. (Oh also! Installation took a couple hours, but solely to do the fact I’m rather meticulous about this sort of thing!) Hope this helps anyone^^ ... show more

    • Potential Glow Delight Hindered by Lack of Sunlight

The media could not be loaded. The stars themselves are adorable and, when exposed to sunlight, do glow beautifully at night. However, I noticed that the glow wasn't as prominent as expected in my room. After a bit of troubleshooting, I realized that the room where I installed them doesn't receive much sunlight during the day. Upon placing the package in a sunlit window, I noticed that the stars did indeed glow brilliantly at night. This led me to believe that the lack of sun exposure in my room might be the primary reason for the subdued glow. It seems the stars need a decent amount of sunlight during the day to charge up effectively for a vibrant glow in the dark. I even tried keeping my bedroom lights on all day to charge them up, as the package suggests, but it didn't charge them up as effectively as natural sunlight does. For those considering these glow-in-the-dark stars, I'd recommend ensuring that the room you plan to install them in receives sufficient sunlight during the day. If your space lacks natural light, consider placing the stars in direct sunlight periodically to recharge them. While I initially faced challenges with the glow performance, I believe the stars are functional, and the issue lies in the amount of sunlight they receive. With proper exposure, these Super Stars have the potential to create a delightful celestial display on your ceiling. ... show more
