  • This stuff works great!
Size: 1 Gallon (Pack of 1) Style: Primer
Having never tackled a DYI project like this, I wasn't sure how I would do, but this stuff works great! It provided excellent coverage over the old brick fireplace that has been in my house for 36 years. I bought a gallon and only used 1/3 of the can with 3 coats. The extra left over will come in handy for other projects. I am very pleased with the final result and so excited that I gave it a try after watching a couple you-tube videos. It is very easy to use with a simple stiff paint brush, getting into the grout spaces first, then working over into the other areas. I did use a small roller brush which helped the project go a bit faster, but, ultimately, you can use a basic brush to do the whole thing. ... show more

  • Time saver for all your painting projects (say goodbye to sanding)!
Size: 1 Gallon (Pack of 1) Style: Primer
I ordered this item twice. The first time I brought it upstairs to my room (I was painting my bathroom cabinets) and I set the unopened box on the floor. My dog knocked it over while playing catch and the ENTIRE BUCKET SPILLED all over my CARPET. Luckily I was planning on installing hardwood floors soon so I was more upset about not being able to start my project that day because there was nothing left! Amazon replaced my paint in 3 days. (See first pic). *Tip: even though the lid has those metal clips to hold it shut, it can still open! Be very careful when you handle the paint for the first time! I’ve refinished cabinets before and I HATE painting (mostly because I hate the time and effort it takes to prep the surface). Sanding to remove any finish/wiping down, making sure there’s no dust particles left on the surface, etc. So I was researching how I could refinish my cabinets without spending too much time while also making sure the finish is durable and doesn’t chip. I read all the reviews on this product and decided to give it a go. I still cleaned my surface with a degreaser, but I didn’t do any sanding. The layers go on very very thin. You prob only need about 2 thin coats and that’s it. This isn’t the type of primer that will help with paint coverage, it’s supposed to help with adhesion. After I let it dry (I let mine sit overnight), I did a few scratch tests and decided to move on with the paint (see pics). *Tip: make sure you really shake/mix the primer really really well. I did notice that when I used it for another project and didn’t shake it well, the adhesion wasn’t as strong and it would scratch off. I was really happy with my cabinets and a year later I haven’t had any chipping! For another project, I was helping my sister refinish her bathroom tile (she had a LOT of blue tile and ugly countertop to refinish). I read someone’s review saying they used it on tile so I decided to give it a go. I did try and scuff up the porcelain tile just a bit, then cleaned and dried the surface and put my first coat of primer really thin. It seemed pretty stuck on there with light scratching (I didn’t use a nail or anything). So then I continued my project with the tub & tile refinishing kit. (As seen in the pictures). It’s been two months and again, so far so good! I’ve been careful not to use any abrasive products on the tile or countertops and the epoxy did have more than 72 hours to cure (and I had a heater running during drying times because this was in the winter. I’m excited to try this stuff again on a crib using a sprayer. I do not look forward to having to sand down each and every slat, so I’m crossing my fingers that this also works well for that! If you’ve got a painting project ahead...save TIME and just try it out! You can thank me later ☺️ ... show more

  • No more sanding
Size: 1 Quarts (Pack of 1) Style: Primer
I looked everywhere for this and only able to get firm Amazon, thank you Amazon for making this available! It works great, I painted and vanity that had been finished with a satin finish and I could just pain this over the finish. It looks beautiful, it’s the only way to go! I had to use a hand sander when I started this project but got very tired of sanding. I looked up on the internet to see if it was a easier way to achieve the same results. This is when I discovered this product, I’m so glad it found this because I had doors, crown molding and trim to paint, this was a lifesaver, ... show more

  • Great adhesion
Size: 1 Gallon (Pack of 1) Style: Primer
I used this on polyethylene. I needed to paint two 1500 gal poly tanks to keep sunlight out. I was assured by Behr tech service this was the product to use. After scrubbing down the surfaces (ScotchBrite pads and Dawn) and allowing them to dry, I applied this paint via roller/brush. Easy to apply. Easy cleanup. This coating provided a superior base for the finish coat. A bit pricey, but not found in local big box stores. Behr has great customer service and are there to happily assist in product choice, problem resolution and other issues. ... show more

  • Not as "adhesive" as I expected
Size: 1 Gallon (Pack of 1) Style: Primer
I bought this primer because I had to paint a boatload of vinyl mounting blocks to match my new house siding. 1) I first cleaned the vinyl with TSP, then applied 1 to 2 coats of Kilz, and then painted multiple thin coats of paint. I used a Benjamin Moore paint specifically designed for vinyl that doesn't have any black in the color mix to prevent the vinyl from warping. I allowed 24 hours between each application of both the Kilz and the paint. 2) When I was done, I checked the adhesion by trying to scrape off the paint with my fingernail. It seemed to pass that test without losing any paint, but it's not like I was trying to force it off. 3) I have a feeling the guys installing the gable vent (see pic) weren't even trying to be careful with the painted surface, so there's a big "chipped" place. With it being up so high, I can't tell whether the Kilz didn't stick to the vinyl or if the paint didn't stick to the Kilz. This is the reason I'm deducting one star, although 1/2 star would be more in line with my opinion. 4) The contractor was more careful when installing the mounting block for the light, but I still ended up with it being dinged (see pic). Again, this is part of my deducting 1 star. Overall, I think that this primer is great for anything that's not taking a lot of abuse, but I'm not sure whether any primer can do better. For example, I also used it on my vinyl garage door and on a new fiberglass door, and so far not a single scratch of ding on either. I plan to use it to paint my melamine laminate kitchen cupboards, and am crossing my fingers that it will hold up. ... show more
