  • Perfect Musical Gift for Little Ones Perfect Musical Gift for Little Ones
Color: White
I recently got the Mustar Kids Piano Keyboard (37-key wooden set) for my little one, and it’s honestly such a cute and well-made toy! The wooden finish makes it look way more premium than a regular plastic kids keyboard, and the small bench that comes with it is adorable. The sound quality is surprisingly good for a kids’ piano, and the included song book and DIY stickers make it super fun—my child loved it and learning simple tunes right away. The protective cover is also a nice bonus for keeping dust off. It feels sturdy, looks great in the playroom, and makes a perfect beginner musical toy. Overall, really happy with this purchase definitely recommend it as a gift for kids who love music. ... show more

  • Way Better Than the Plastic Junk — My Nieces Actually Want to Practice
Color: Pink
Every toy piano and keyboard my nieces have ever had has been some flimsy plastic Fisher Price thing that sounds like a calculator playing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star through a tin can. Which is fine for a two-year-old who just wants to bang on something, but my older niece is getting old enough now that she's showing genuine interest in music and I wanted something that wouldn't make my ears bleed or fall apart in two weeks. This 37-key wooden keyboard is a completely different animal. The body is actual wood — not particle board pretending to be wood, real wood with a smooth finish that looks like a piece of furniture. It sits on the desk in the playroom and looks intentional, not like a toy that got thrown in the corner. The keys are full-size width, which means if she develops muscle memory on this, it'll actually transfer to a real piano or keyboard later. That matters. Those dinky narrow keys on toy keyboards teach bad habits. The sound quality caught me off guard. Hooked it up, hit a few keys, and actually said "whoa" out loud. The piano tone is rich and clear — not that tinny metallic digital sound you expect from a budget keyboard. It sounds like a real digital piano, not a toy pretending to be one. There are multiple instrument voices beyond piano, and while some of them are less impressive (the trumpet sound is... aspirational), the core piano, organ, and strings sounds are all legitimately good. The keys have a satisfying action. They're not weighted like a real piano, which you wouldn't expect at this size and price, but they have more resistance than the mushy rubber-dome keys on plastic keyboards. There's a real press-and-return feel that makes playing more responsive and enjoyable. My niece can actually tell the difference between pressing softly and firmly, which is something the old toy keyboard couldn't do at all. Built-in speaker is surprisingly loud and clear. There's also a headphone jack, which is maybe my favorite feature because it means she can practice while her sister naps. Before this, practice time had to be scheduled around nap time, which was a logistical nightmare. Now she puts on headphones and plays whenever she wants. Game changer for household peace. It runs on batteries or USB power. I keep it plugged in with a USB cable because batteries in a kids' product feel wasteful, but it's nice to have the battery option for portability. The USB cable also means you can technically connect it to a computer for use with music software, though we haven't gone down that road yet. It comes with some learning features — built-in songs you can play along with, a record-and-playback function, and some basic rhythm accompaniments. My niece loves the record feature because she plays something, records it, and then makes me listen to it seventeen times. Which is annoying but also adorable and shows she's engaged with the instrument. The wooden construction is sturdy. No flex, no wobble, no creaking when she plays enthusiastically (which is always). It's survived being carried around the house, having snacks spilled near it (not on it, thankfully), and general kid chaos without any damage. For anyone looking for something between a disposable toy keyboard and a serious digital piano, this hits the sweet spot perfectly. It's good enough to learn real fundamentals on, sounds good enough that practice isn't torture for everyone in the house, and it's built well enough to last. Really impressed with this one. ... show more

  • Lots of functionality - sized for about a 4yo Lots of functionality - sized for about a 4yo
Color: White
This piano cames extremely well packaged to prevent any damage to the wood. The assembly instructions weren't super helpful. The wood itself looks like particleboard with a plastic overlay to make it look nice. The screw holes are recessed but have been covered by the plastic overlay - you have to punch the screws through (pictured). I recommend punching through the visible side so it looks nicer. You also want to be careful not to tear the plastic overlay. Once we figured out how to work with the overlay it went together pretty easily. We used a power drill despite them including a screwdriver. The manual warns against use in areas with dust, vibration, high or low temperatures, and humidity. It does have a guide of the different settings you can select; however, there's no screen to show what you've selected and no easy way to reset to the beginning/ original setting (other than turning the power off and back on). It would also be awesome if there were a way to switch off all the extra features for during lessons and practice so kids aren't getting super distracted with all the options. Volumn control and on/ off switch are located on the back of the piano - not as easily accessible (which could be good or bad). The manual recommends turning the piano off when not in use so you don't drain the on-board batteries. The demo songs are nice but probably would have been more useful if they matched the songs in the music book included. The music book is set up to get more difficult as you progress. The key stickers included might be more helpful if each letter was a consistent shape (all Cs as stars). The stool is small enough it can tip easily. Overall, my kids love it. The 7yo is a bit big for it (his knees fit just under the keyboard - pictured) and the 4yo is just about the right size. ... show more
