    • Lots of of fun instruments. Good quality wood construction. One caveat.
Pros: There are a ton of instruments and noise-makers in this set. There is something for everyone to play. Additionally the tones/sounds are actually rather nice from most of the instruments--almost nothing sounds super dull or tinny. I was also pleasantly surprised that the xylophone is an appropriately-keyed scale. And the wood construction is very solid and well-finished for almost all of the instruments. It also comes with a clear plastic carrying case to hold everything which I appreciate. My kids (aged 5 and 7) were instantly drawn to these instruments and were happy to start using them. If you're looking for some solid entry-level instruments/noise makers to teach about rhythm or to use as an introduction to making music, this is a great set. Cons: The exception to all of the above statements is the fipple flute. That is absolute garbage, produces terrible sound, and several of the finger holes don't actually change the note being played at all. I would recommend this set as a great way to introduce young children to concepts of rhythm and certain aspects of music theory. But I would also recommend that you immediately throw away the fipple flute so you don't have to endure the terrible sound it makes. ... show more

The box is packaged very nice, and there is a surprise clear tote at the bottom for everything to fit in. The wood is actually a very good quality, so it is well worth the price. The clappers, clamshell shapes, make a lot of noise with a good wooden hollow effect. It can be annoying for being the one to listen to somebody else doing it. The maracas shake very well, aren't excessively loud but still have a very good rattle inside them. They give the proper sound. There is a bonus little caterpillar beads on a string kind of thing, but it doesn't make much noise moving unless you are knocking it on something. Really. It's just a cool fidgety bonus that comes with them. There are beaded eggs, that are effectively egg-shaped maracas. They are also the correct size of regular large eggs, so it helps the kid learn the size and feel of an egg too. The wooden stick with the ball on the end, is properly thick so it shouldn't easily break. Also, this wood feels very stiff as well, although soft to the surface touch, the wood fibers seem to be very strong and therefore stuff shouldn't break easily without a much older and heavier kids stepping on it. ... show more
