I play roller derby, so I know A LOT about quad skates. I bought these for my 3 yr old granddaughter and was a bit skeptical about the “over the shoes” style. I’d much rather buy her traditional, boot-style skates, but I knew she would outgrow them in a couple of months because her feet are just growing too fast. They are a bit wide, and take a little getting used to, but they seem to stay firmly in place and even have a locking mechanism so the kids can learn to “walk” on the skates before rolling. Once they are ready to roll, you can tighten the screws on each wheel to allow for less roll which is very helpful. The only option missing is a setting so the skates don’t roll backward. I wish they would add that feature. (And please make sure you buy you little one all the necessary pads and a helmet to keep them safe) ... show more

These were purchased for 3.5 year olds and we have used them on carpet and wooden floors. The fit is adjustable at least 2.5 inches and the strap across the shoe tongue is very sturdy.
