After much searching for a dollhouse that would not be easily destroyed (and my daughters year-long quest to convince "Santa" that a dollhouse with an elevator is crucial in her happiness), my husband and I decided this would be the dollhouse of the century. We were right, our 5 year old daughter absolutely loves her dollhouse! BTW, Mommy thinks it quite nice as well. Now be prepared,if you're assembling it by yourself, to get a bit of a workout. It's probably much easier to assemble with the help of someone else. It took me a few hours over two days to complete my project. I had to hide it after I put it together, so it's a bit hefty fully assembled. The directions were pretty straightforward; I really had no major issues other than the elevator track being in two parts instead of one. I called Kidkraft and they sent the part right away, apologizing for the inconvenience. Thank you Kidkraft for standing behind your product and for having such an excellent customer service department. Sadly, that is such a rarity nowadays.... The dollhouse furniture is darling, my daughter is especially fond of the piano (which plays a snippet of music), lamp (which works as well...be aware that once you switch it on, it shuts off by itself) and the table/chair set. Batteries were included for the the piano, lamp and toilet. My 3 year old gets in on the fun as well. Who knew they had so many fashion dolls? There is more than enough room for two children to play in the various areas of the house...and don't forget that there are two, yes two, balconies! The 5 year old has even added additional furniture from her old Barbie fold-up vacation home. This is not a tiny dollhouse, it takes up a big space. But, if you are so inclined, you can mount it against a wall (hardware included) if you want it to stay in a specific location in your home. I think it is quite sturdy and durable and will be played with for a very long time. Also, based upon various friends/family comments comparing this one to the Barbie townhouse, we made the best purchase. I purchased it on Black Friday 2011 and got it for a very good price as well (yay me!). Many other sites had it listed at around $160, it was under $120 here. Thanks Amazon! ... show more

The dollhouse was delivered quickly. I enjoyed putting it together. The instructions were easy enough to understand. The structure is very sturdy and the colors on the walls are very vibrant. I didn’t realize the dollhouse stood so tall! The furniture was a plus for me. The toilet makes a flushing sound. The grand piano plays a little tune and the lamp turns on. My grandbaby is going to love opening her gift on Christmas morning. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

Yes, assembly was time consuming. My son and I worked together. If you can do ikea, you can do this. Allow 3 hours and it might take 2. The organization of screws was excellent and color and number coded. We had a couple struggles and one part that seemed easier if I swapped the order of 2 steps, but overall it was fun to build! The end product has been sturdy enough for my toddler to climb before I correct her, as well as for jumping dolls in the house. It is big. If my girl would have liked calico critters and a smaller wooden house, I would prefer that, but she wanted barbie size like they had at child watch. The elevator could use a little grease and the piano legs are weak but other than that everything has been great. On sale, this was a real bargain. Very happy. ... show more

The doll house is beautiful and nice and sturdy! Took two guys to build it in like 2 hours. Some of the pieces were broken and didn’t work, the batteries were corroding so please check those! Other wise it’s a great doll house and fits the regular sized dolls!

Bought it for my niece since she loves dolls and this guy the 12 inch doll size I was looking for. I was nervous about this over after looking at the reviews. The last thing you want to worry about is if all the screws and pieces are in the box. Not the case with my box (lucky me). Pros: -The materials are decent. -The screw pack that comes with it is letters and the screw heads are color coordinated with the part of the house they belong on (trust me you will be gratful) - Comes with furniture and the pictures match the product. -Comes with tools but I recommend using a drill if you can. -After it's done, it looks adorable ... and tall. Gift factor will have my niece hugging her auntie and naming me the best. Cons - Sometimes the pictures drove me crazy. - Some steps will feel out of order. - Do not recommend putting this together alone. If no choice, have tape handy to temporarily act as an assistant. - Will take hours, even with a drill. Tips: - Make sure you have all your parts. - Pay close attention to the pictures and identifying marks. - step 23 and 24, I think this is molding to the top awning.... Put the pieces 53, 54 and 55 together first. Then attach to 30. Your welcome. - Take a break if you can to break something. ... show more
