Description

Kidde Smoke Detector, Hardwired Smoke Alarm with Battery Backup, Front-Load Battery Door, Test-Silence Button, Pack of 2, model i12060A, is an AC/DC powered, ionization smoke alarm that operates on a 120V power source. In the event of a power outage, the Kidde fire alarm comes equipped with a 9V battery backup. Using ionization sensing technology, the wired smoke alarm detects invisible fire particles (associated with flaming fires) sooner than photoelectric alarms. Kidde strongly recommends that both ionization and photoelectric smoke alarms be installed to help ensure maximum detection of the various types of fire that can occur within the home. Easy to install, this Kidde smoke detector includes a pre-stripped wiring harness with easy-off cap. The front battery door makes it simple to replace the smoke alarm's battery backup without the need to remove the alarm from the mounting bracket. Red LEDs indicate 4 modes of operation: Standby Mode - flashes every 40 seconds to indicate the smoke alarm is operating properly; Alarm Mode - alarm senses products of combustion; Alarm Memory - to indicate the alarm has been activated; and Hush mode - silences the alarm for approximately 7 minutes. Green LED indicates AC power. Kidde Hardwired Smoke Detector model i12060A is also available as a single device, in a four-pack, and in a six-piece bulk pack for contractors and property owners who need an alarm for every room. UL Certified with a 10-year limited warranty. Meets requirements of UL217, NFPA72, The State of California Fire Marshal, NFPA 101, FHA, & HUD.

I purchased 3 Kiddie Smoke detectors and 2 Kiddie CO/Smoke detectors, all hardwired with AA battery backup. Installed all of them rather easily with the exception of having to rewire the plugs as they changed the end piece from my 10 year old Kiddie detectors, but this too was easily done. Fits on the same baseplates. They all interconnected perfectly. I tested the included backup batteries prior to install and they were all fully charged. Pushed the test button on one unit and they all briefly alarmed, then shut off by themselves. I'll report back if I get any false alarms or low battery alarms, but these units seem very well made. Please remember to write the install date on the included sticker as the 10-year lifespan starts with the date you power them up, not the manufacture date. ... show more

This item was to replace the old ones that were already installed in my home. The Good These were very easy to install, but then again I already had other ones wired. The fit in the same receptacle, and seem to be good quality. Battery life doesn't really apply, since they are hardwired in my case. The Bad They work very well, now when I 'try' to cook and the kitchen fills with smoke they go off like crazy. The alarm is definitely loud enough. The Ugly The wiring in my house was actually not up to code. When I installed the final one I couldn't figure out why it was not behaving correctly. I am actually very glad I bought this multi pack because if I hadn't I never would have found the mistake the previous home owner had made when he wired the basement. ... show more

We needed to replace our older FireX wired smoke detectors. Since Kidde acquired this brand, the wiring was very similar, and installation was simple. All I had to do was remove the old connector and attach the new one. While convert adapters are available, they weren’t necessary, and you can save money by handling the wiring yourself if you’re comfortable with this easy task. Directions were included, which made the process straightforward. These detectors are much less expensive than buying them at retail, and they work as expected. The only downside was delivery—it took longer than usual, though still within the stated shipping range. Additionally, the detectors were shipped in their original boxes rather than a protective cardboard outer box. Some of the boxes were slightly squished, but thankfully none of the detectors were damaged. This is an area that could definitely be improved. I purchased another brand, which I liked, but the unit(s) failed at install. So, I tried Kidde. The directions were good, but the print was small. Also, hardware likes screws and wire nuts were not included. I turned off house breaker and tested house wires for power. Then, reading the directions again and watching a Kidde install video, I installed 10 of these units in my house. There was a slight learning curve. But, after install, I applied power again, they all worked perfectly without a single chirp! Testing was quick and easy. I recommend buying the ten-year battery model as the AA model batteries must be replaced once a year. The ten-year battery models were available if I wanted to wait another week for delivery. Kidde claims these alarms are “UL listed” which I need to meet my city building code. These were a great smoke detector replacement. ... show more
