  • Seems like a good replacement..
So, this was a good fit for my 2017 ford explorer. My old KeyFob was cracked and the key ring slipped off, but the remote was still working. This is just an empty FOB, so it's pretty easy to transfer the circuit board and battery from the old to the new fob case. I also tranferred the old key inside the new fob and just tossed the new one included .. because it isn't cut to fit your car. It's a blank key. So, all in all it looks great, and doesn't need programming (if your old remote was still working). It also doesn't have the little ford sticker on the back of the fob , but I am ok with that! The dealership charges at least $250 for a new key fob with programming. ... show more

  • fulfilled needs
My fob case broke, swapped the guts into the new case, not fitment issues at all. took all of 30 seconds to do. replaced the case for 2016 f-150

  • Third-party replacement Shell - Not an "exact fit" ...
Regrettably would not recommend this item. I purchased this item as a stop-gap measure for a worn original fob shell. However the new replacement silicone form that seats the original fob's electronic system board in the replacement fob is not the exact same measurements or 'fit' of the original product sold with the car. I suppose it is possible if you are good with a razor or other idea or maybe place the old silicone form into the new new shell instead of one that is provided? Nonetheless the money used to purchased the item failed to replace and fit the electronics from the original intelligent key fob. These intelligent key fob's are delicate electronic components and would like to see more information on these type of items being sold on Amazon to ensure such problems do more than succeed to separate the money from the buyer for such items. Rather replacement electronic shell's should be designed to fit exactly as the original OEM specifications. ... show more

  • As good as the original...almost.
Looks almost identical to the original key fob, but buttons are a little stiff. Swapping the internal components from the broken key took some finesse, but the key is still working fine after several months.

  • They work.
Like thousands of others, I broke the ring off a couple of my fobs. These things are a precise match. On both of mine, I was able to use the Ford internals and retain the factory back plate but these would work just as well without doing that. Hopefully I won’t need more, but, if I do, I would buy these again. ... show more

  • Need a key fob case for this to work properly
The pieces fit together ok, once you get the hang of it. But the piece that attaches to your key ring is made of plastic, and the prongs that hold it in place inside the fob will break off VERY easily. So, what do you do? Get a soft key fob case, they run about $10. This will actually hold the whole thing together as well as protect it. I was going to return this, but I had a case that I accidentally ordered. Using both together, it works fine. I checked out the other fob shells, and it seems they ALL have this problem. So yes, it will cost you a bit more, but nowhere near what it would cost to get a new case from the dealership. ... show more

  • Worked Great
These were sort of hard to get put together. I used the inside electronics of my old key and put it in the new shell. It was a little tricky. However, for about $75 I had a new working key fob rather than pay the dealer $350 for a new fob and to reprogram it.

  • Just as garbage as the OEM
If you're holding your key fob together with tape, be prepared to do the same thing with this. It's literally no different than the OEM one (minus the battery separator and chip thermalpad. It broke within 15 min. I transferred my circuit board and put it together once just fine but the alarm button kept going off and the remote start and tailgate unlock wasn't working. So, I took it apart to put the OEM batter holder plate in this one instead of the one that comes with it (because the battery plate doesn't have the battery separator, a piece of plastic paper to separate the batteries when stacked nor does it come with the computer chip thermpad) and it broke IN THE EXACT SPOT the OEM one did, on the stupid metal-looking hook pieces. This has to be the worst key design of all time. My only choice is to now spend ANOTHER $20, wait more days for shipping, and try to assemble this flimsy piece of garbage again without breaking it. UGH! ... show more
