  • Best stock <$100 wireless mechanical keyboard
Color: Gateron G Pro Brown Switch
I spent forever looking for a wireless mechanical keyboard with this exact key layout and landed on this one. It's kind of nuts how good this one is stock not only for sound but also build and its features (I got it for $67 on sale, at the time of writing it says it's normally listed at $72 or something). Here's a dry run: + Excellent keyboard tapping sound (Not annoying/high pitch, somewhere between "thocky" and "clicky"? My wife described it as "the sound of rolling dice". I assume mods/different keycaps can change the experience but the stock sound is quite nice to me) + Very robust lighting settings. Apart from choosing a preset color, you can pick different cool patterns or just plain backlit + You adjust the colors and patterns DIRECTLY on the keyboard using key combinations listed in the instructions, there is NO third party application junk required to download just to manage the keyboard colors (Unlike my previous Razer non mechanical keyboard) + Nice and hefty, though the heft might not make this the most ideal keyboard to travel around with, but its compact size is suuuper nice + Because I am a non Numpad scrub, this very specific key layout is extremely nice for my needs, but if you really need a Numpad or don't think you could give one up, definitely check out other layouts + I like the switch on the side for quick switch between wired connection or BT, also the BT works surprisingly well (My computer and Xbox controller don't cooperate with BT, but the keyboard instantly connected and has been more than reliable for gaming) + Charge time seems really good, I haven't let it die yet but I charge it every week/10 days or so when I remember to, and it doesn't seem to take very long (Maybe an hour or two, kind of whenever I notice the charge light is green) - The BT mode goes to "sleep" faster than I feel like it should and there's no way to adjust it. It only takes a few seconds to turn on but if you're watching longform YouTube content or something and then start typing afterwards, the "1" will blink with a blue light a few times before the keyboard automatically reconnects and then you can continue using it. I wish I could alter how long it takes before it goes to "sleep" but it hasn't affected my gaming or anything so far Overall, extremely robust and great sounding stock keyboard and, I dig not needing to download something to manage the lights/patterns and how well the wireless works (sans the "sleep" timing). ... show more

  • Great Keyboard, Great Features
Color: Gateron G Pro Red Switch
In the grand scheme of things, this is a bit pricey for a keyboard. There are other bluetooth mechanicals out there that are $30 lower. But by god, I'm a bit of an aesthetics freak, so I shilled a little extra just for the look of this board. The keyboard itself is wonderful. I bought this cause I was tired of my portable bluetooth keyboards breaking. For context, I use a portable tablet for taking notes and doing a lot of work and artwork. I bought other wireless keyboards, but they always failed in one way or another after some use. So I figured I'd buy something a bit more durable (now, I can't say much about this keyboard's durability right now. I never dropped it or anything yet). The features that this keyboard has are wonderful. You can pair 3 different bluetooth devices and swap between them relatively fast (Fn + 1 or Fn + 2 or Fn + 3). There are a ton of light settings, and even though the manual doesn't say this, you can lock a light setting so you don't have to worry about accidently hitting the light button and swapping settings (Fn + L + Light Effect Key; Hold until the entire keyboard blinks red, about 6 seconds). The windows/iOS switch is a welcome addon, since I've had a keyboard that defaulted to iOS whenever it booted, and I'm a Windows user. One potential downside is that there's currently no way to remap keys on the board itself. The manual suggests downloading an external software, but unless you do that, you're stuck in QWERTY. Not a deal breaker for me, but definitely worth considering if you're a DVORAK fan or something! Overall, this thing is nice and compact, and a joy to use. UPDATE: I spilled some water on the keyboard. I immediately turned it off and flipped it over and left it for a while. When I turned it back on, everything seemed to work fine. A little while later, I found that the entire top row of keys were getting actuated all together when pressing just one button. Luckily, Keychron has a guide on how to disassemble the keyboard. I unscrewed the board, pulled out the pcb, gave it an alcohol wipedown, put it back in, and it's working fine now. Long story short, I'm glad this keyboard's easy to disassemble! Otherwise that would've been a really pricey mistake! ... show more
