I've been looking for a replacement for my previous matte hair paste, American Crew Fiber, ever since American Crew changed their formula and Fiber had significantly less hold than before (requiring nearly twice as much product for the same amount of hold). I found the perfect replacement with this product (Kevin Murphy - Night Rider Matte)! Not only does it hold significantly better than (the new) Fiber, it also has the exact same scent, which I love. I also tried four other matte paste products that were recommended to me as an alternative to Fiber, but I found their scents were way too "perfumey" and would give me a headache. I love the subtle citrus-y scent of Night Rider/Fiber. Ultimately I ended up returning all the other products (thanks Amazon), and stuck with Night Rider. I've since re-ordered twice. ... show more

We have purchased this product in the past and it was almost unscented. My recent purchase now has a strong scent. It's a bit of a weird smell but I'm sensitive. My go to hair placement product. It doesn't take much, and it goes a long way for styling hair while not making it look or feel like plastic. A very high quality hair product. I will have a hard time trying to justify using anything else. It is expensive but it lasts a very long time.

Excellent hair cream, medium to strong hold not too greasy to apply and smells good. Also it's called night rider so it could have been empty with a note telling me I need to be better like the hof and it'd still be doing an important job

    • Maybe it's just my hair but I'm not a HUGE fan.(I have very thick hair medium length hair)

First off, I'm a guy with medium length, very thick hair. I like the stuff, but I absolutely don't understand the price of it. I have purchased hair product that holds my very thick hair better than this. Now, I don't mean this doesn't "hold" the hair well, it does that, but it's how it does it that bothers me. It makes your hair very heavy, even with just a little bit used. It leaves it very sticky, and just doesn't do what I hoped for. I've tried even watching videos on youtube of how to use the product and I couldn't get the same results. My friend is a hairstylist for (6 years) and has always been able to work with my very thick hair, she was shocked by the high price/lacking results. It's ok... I have a friend who loves it, I guess I'll mail it off to him! Either way, it's a tough one to suggest.. it's not like it's a mere $20.. it's $40 (when I bought).. that's a large investment for hair product. If you're like me, and you want soft hair that seems almost untouched by product but has good shape to it check out the Enjoy Dry Wax. It's like $15 right now with free Prime shipping. That stuff works so well with my thick hair, just take a small/medium finger tips worth and rub it into your hands until it warms up then run your fingers through your hair as if they were brush fingers. Lightly and evenly, don't "push" it through your hair with flat hands. After that, you'll notice you can grab and style your hair, it'll hold the shape and look like it just naturally took that on. That's just my advice to anyone with thick hair like me. Sorry if this review isn't fair to people who have hair that it works well with. My friend has thinner but a full head of hair and won't buy anything else. So I guess, if you have thinner hair it might work well for you! ... show more

Honstly, once you use this stuff you will never been able to use another styling paste/gel/clay/wax again. The hold is perfect, it’s easy to apply, and it keeps your hair looking natural.

This is one of the top matte products out there for hair. For me it's usually between this, Label M Matt Paste and Morris Motley and it's a very close fight between the three. This product happens to be readily available here in the US and trying to get AUS hair products is more difficult due to the pandemic. +Strong enough hold for days +Smell is good, not overpowering +Easy to apply, easy to wash out. -Cost is higher than the average Joe brands in US stores, but is well worth it. -Has a bit of a learning curve, if you aren't use to wax products ... show more

This paste is excellent - it allows you to shape your hair how you want it without leaving it looking like a hard plastic shell. I usually apply a dime-sized amount right after towel-drying my hair after a shower, and that gives me enough control to style it how I want and then be able to reshape throughout the day by simply running my hand through my hair. I started using this while trying to find an alternative to American Crew Fiber Pliable Molding Creme For Men 3 Ounces , which left my hair greasy and heavy at the end of the day. Night Rider eliminated that problem for me. Granted, it's more expensive than AC Fiber, but the quality is worth it in my opinion. I've used this paste for about two and a half years now, and I haven't found any other product that comes close to this level of control while also leaving my hair light and not shiny. The only negative I've experienced it that the paste can be a little difficult to wash off your hands, but that is a minor inconvenience at most. Great product that's worth the money! ... show more
