Honest Review: Total Waste of Money (MUST READ) + Shady Warranty Information Details
OK, now for an honest review from someone who actually uses a tool box on a semi-regular basis (weekend warrior). This is a 2-year review, but I didn't use it all the time. A repair here and there. A project or three. But I'm just a tinkerer. I also prefer writing great reviews, but this thing has given me so many problems that felt the need to warn people. So, here it goes and apologies for the rant :-) I seriously regret purchasing this tool box. I was in my "children's tool box" today and finally decided to do a 2-year review. I should have done one last year after everything started to fall apart. Also not sure why I didn't return the darn thing after 1 year (the warranty is 1 year...probably because they know it's cheaply made). The box is el cheapo (pictures attached). The first thing that broke was the closure. Now it won't even close. The next things that broke were the CHEAP PLASTIC hinges. Since there was nothing left to break besides the cheap wheels, I decided to live with my poor decision to purchase this thing. The size is also awkward. The wheels change the inside dimension of the box, which is a poor design. I also have difficulty closing the sliding top; it gets stuck and anything that's positioned too high will prevent the box from closing. I've tried many times to organize and reorganize things but most of my tools don't seem to fit and/or get tangled. One time the plastic lid slid off and all my nuts and bolts fell on the garage floor. I spent the next 1/2 hour cleaning the garage. Good luck reorganizing when the lid pops open (the closure is super cheap). I use this on weekends and I take good care of my things. Looks like I'm the first person to write a long-term review. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS TOOL BOX. You've been warned. Pay a little extra and "buy once, cry once". I would love to get a refund or have someone from the company explain why they made the hinges out of cheap pieces of plastic that aren't even secure!! This is the cheapest most inconsiderate way to design a tool box. If I was knitting socks I'd probably be happy. But this is is ridiculous. I called Amazon and it was out of warranty. I then called Keter and they said that the 1-year warranty expired. I asked them about their 1-year warranty, and this is important. If it breaks after 6 months, you only get a 50% refund ($5.25/month deducted from each month of ownership). If you own it for 11 months and it breaks, you only get a $5.25 refund. This is not a "1-year warranty" as described. In fact, I think this is a rip-off. So, buyer beware. Customer service said, "Well if you use it every day it's going to break." Huh? Seriously? What am I supposed to do, put it on the mantle and stare at it every day? What a crock. I would have never bought this if I had known what I know now. Total waste of money. As a business owner I think this is bottom-feeder business practice. If you want to throw your money away, then just send it to me in an envelope. I'll use the money to buy a big boy tool box. There are other options. BUY A STANLEY, CRAFTSMAN or DAWALT (options below...make sure to watch the Dawalt video...these stack and lock). Btw, the Craftsman tool box looks almost exactly like the Keter, but with a MUCH better warranty. Why would you even buy a Keter now? https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_14?url=search-alias%3Dtools&field-keywords=stanley+mobile+tool+box&sprefix=stanley+mobile%2Ctools%2C206&crid=14LM5KCWYXL60 https://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DWST17806-TSTAK-Deep-Box/dp/B00CBY2EIO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1517960590&sr=8-1&keywords=dewalt+tool+box https://www.amazon.com/Craftsman-Gallon-Mobile-Chest-Storage/dp/B01IU72VN8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1518634481&sr=8-1&keywords=Craftsman+Mobile+Tool+Chest Keter Product Description: "Overall, the unit was designed to function under tough conditions without sacrificing appearance." Blahahahaha! Update (February 14, 2018): I was asked to contact Keter to "help [resolve] any issue to [my] full satisfaction". I called and talked to Crystal Sutton in customer service, again. She asked me to send her a screen shot of their offer to help (which I did), then told me again that the tool box wasn't under warranty and that there was nothing they could do. What the?! I think Keter assumed that I wouldn't read their comment (for everyone to see) and just forget about it. This is so dishonest. Why would anyone want to do business with a company like this? Btw, Happy Valentines Day Keter!

Very Cheap Construction = Likely to Break.
Ok guys. Here's the real scoop on this product. I spent a few hours trying to find the best budget mobile tool box and I settled on this one. But - it just arrived and there are some big takeaways straight out the box. Let's get to the facts: -This product is very light -The lock mechanism is spring loaded and does not close easily. A slow push doesn't always latch so you're tempted to slam the two drawers together to secure the lock. This will for sure break after repeated use - rendering the whole product useless. -The top two drawers slide out but they are not secure on the rails, so if they are not pulled straight back from the center they will get stuck on the sides. -The lids on the drawers do not snap close. They are only held closed by the center lock when the whole unit is shut. -One of the drawers on my product was no properly on the rails. There are two tabs that click into a plastic hook. One of these tabs was bent and not attached to the drawer. I fixed it, but that's a bad sign. This product shipped broken. -There are just too many moving parts for this to be any kind of durable. The sliding handle is somehow cheaper than any budget travel suitcase. This thing will break if you need to use it daily. What this is good for? Art supplies and other at home hobbies prob. But I'd be extra cautious with the drawers. Tools? Forget about it (Can't believe the other reviewer used it for two years). Traveling? Nope. AV Gear? (The reason I bought it)? Unfortunately, no. It's just too cheap and I can't trust it to do the job. Back to my search.

the pullout handle wasn't the greatest, but my biggest gripe of all was that ...
Had this for a little over a year, and it houses some of my car detailing supplies. Wanted something that was reasonably sized... small enough to move around the garage and/or transport it but large enough to hold a decent amount of tools and supplies. First impression when I first got it (Sep 2016) was that while the body felt durable, the details were not. The hinges we're plastic, the pullout handle wasn't the greatest, but my biggest gripe of all was that the locking mechanism failed. Most of the items I store were things I didn't use as often as other things... dual action polisher, pads, claybar, polishing compounds, and other small pieces. I've honestly only opened/closed it less than a dozen times, and the auto locking mechanism doesn't work anymore. SMH. I have to push both sides of the lid together and manually turn the dial in hopes that it locks. Had high hopes for this thing, but serves me right... I guess I should have gone with a more known/reputable brand... perhaps something with a better warranty as well. It broke right after the 1 year mark, and that's when the warranty expires. Time to find a more reliable replacement.

Decent Box, Latch Spring Mount Broke, Still Like It - So I'm Keeping It
Purchased the Stanly 3 part rolling toolbox first and found it way too flimsy. This one is much more solid and has decent space. I'm using it as a parts/oil/cleaning agent/tool box, dedicated to my boat maintaining needs. It is a well thought out except for the lack of any bins/separators in the big, wide open bottom area. Basically it's a plastic bin you can toss stuff in with a cover that holds a few smaller things in an organized fashion. As many other users have mentioned, the spring in the latch broke off after 2 days of owning it. I took the latch apart and found that the little plastic peg that the spring is attached to, simply snapped off. Removing the latch is accomplished by squeezing in the two black retaining clips sticking out on the bottom. I'm attempting a JB Weld/Epoxy repair on the tiny peg. We'll see how it works. I won't return it due to the fact that I like the rest of the solid construction, but if you're going to go this far to make a nice rolling tool carrier - put in a solid latch spring mount or lose the spring all together. Grown men handle these things, and we're not exactly delicate or gentle on the moving parts.
