I used them to do the hardest high we have in PR in they never failed me. It is 2 hrs going up hill, no flat places to rest until you reach the top, there was mud, rocks and they hold up all the time. Right out of the box these boots were extremely comfortable. I was quite pleased and am looking forward to hiking in them. Per comments in other reviews, I hope that they last and are durable. I did read through many of the reviews before purchasing these and was surprised that no one commented on the reflective strip in the back the sides and the top, which was one of the things that caught my attention first, but maybe that’s because I’m often out after dusk. I like how the back reflective ribbon strip can also be used as a hook to help you put on your boot. However, I can see why another reviewer thought that the tongue of the boot could be a little thicker and wider but I think I’m gonna have to log a few miles or several miles before I can adequately review that function. I did not need to put in my own arch support so far, though the insole that these boots come with are quite flimsy, so at some point that might be a good idea. I think it must be the design of the boot itself that is so comfortable and is unrelated to the “arch support” insert . But it is removable so it’s not a dealbreaker. Several people did mention the fabric part between the leather upper and the rubber bottom tore easily, and I could kind of see how that could happen, as well as comments about having issues with the adhesive between the boot upper and the bottom rubber traction part, coming unglued. Since I have not worn them outside yet, I don’t know how durable of a pair I received, but at the moment, because they are so comfortable for me, which is rare, I am going to try them out and keep them. After doing a thorough exam it appears, and I could be wrong, that rather than an issue of the quality of the workmanship involved with the shoes falling apart quickly, it could be more of an issue of the glue that they use and the type of adhesive. Bad batch? different manufacturer? You know, like vitamin companies... Quality of different manufacturers is quite discernible if you are sensitive to it. ... show more

Very comfortable shoes. They are definitely waterproof I used them in the snow and no issues with them. They did felt cold inside near the tip of the shoe at times, I was using thermal socks, it is my first time with this kind of shoe so I don’t know if I did something wrong. But great overall.

    • Finally found a good boot
I have never owned KEENs before. I do however have wide feet and toes that like to splay out. I love to hike especially in the mountains. If you’ve ever hiked inclines, you know how unfortunate it feels to have squished and bruised toes. I debated on a size 8 or 8w. I decided to go for the 8w. I will say they are very wide. For me, I love this. But I want to give the disclosure that I believe the regular size also runs a little wide as well. The insoles in these are a dream. Not memory foam soft, but comfortable right out of the box. They are sturdy enough to feel like you have enough support. I LOVE that these have a strap on the side. This allows you to tighten the boots around your ankle and keeps your feet from pushing to the front of the boot. For inclines, this is so so important. The arch support is phenomenal. These are very waterproof from what I have tested them in. Puddles and small streams mainly. KEEN as a brand have been pfas free since 2018 and keep the environment in mind when making products. I really love theses boots! I love the Keen brand in general because of the wider toe box. But these boots have been particularly nice! They were comfortable right out of the box! They have stayed waterproof. The sole has stayed firmly attached to the boot, but if you were to have a problem. Keen’s customer service is top notch! EDIT: Once I notified Keens of the poor quality of these boots and submitted a warranty claim with copious photos, they gave me a credit for a new pair from their website directly. The credit was for more than $50 over my original price. I ordered and received the new boots in less than a week and though they are the newer iteration of the Targee model, they are definitely an upgrade. Much thicker material, actual real leather, where the other ones cracked. I'm cautiously optimistic. I wanted to give the whole story, hence the edit. I do feel it's safe to trust them if they continue to stand by their product. At first glance (and wear) these boots were amazing! Fit perfectly right out of the box, no breaking in at all! Problem is over time, only 5 months, and just 3 miles every day, they’re cracking and leaking. Definitely not waterproof any more. I do not recommend this brand, such a shame. ... show more
