Shoe is a little heavier than comparable hiking shoes, but that’s not surprising - it’s a mostly leather top and hardy rubber sole. No breaking in required. I love these shoes! They are super comfortable and keep my feet dry and pedicure secure 😉 HOWEVER my first pair snapped the loop after 3 wears. The second pair last match be a dizen before one side snapped, then the other. I like the shoes enough (and was outside the return window) I decided to fix them myself. Very nice hiking shoe for old feet. The thing I like the most about keens are the rounded toebox that is very roomy. They don’t squish your toes when going down steep declines.

Keen waterproof women's 8 fit fine. i wore them on two short hikes total 17 miles. i'm easy on shoes. i'm older, 5'6" and 107#. this is my second pair of Keens. earlier pair were not waterproof model. have worn many pairs of Merrell as well. Hoping you can see the extra, or folded over extra liner inside one of the shoes. i marked it with a yellow pencil to help you see. quality control should have caught this issue. not sure who is the seller of these Keens'. Or, if Keens' product line ships from Keens themselves. I am not returning these and only because i put on enough miles that i would well know if there's a discomfort issue. If i ever order Keens again through Amazon, and ever have another similar issue, i will return the product. ... show more
