    • Great shoe if you buy an insert
The keen ridge is great. The shoe is rugged and there’s no worry about protection. Purchase them a bit large and don’t lace them up super tight. They’ll stay on and feel good. The flex accordion, while just darling in the contrast color, is a total gimmick. I can’t tell at all. I am a little concerned about failure as it’s a piece of plastic and for my kids in BSA who are doing 40 mile hikes at high adventure camps, I’d send them in the waterproof Targhee instead out of fear of failure from the accordion thing. For me, it’s fine. I’m not hiking like that, I think gimmicks are fun, and I enjoy buying new things every few years. My only real complaint is the lousy insole. Garbage. Thin, hard, and they made my feet hurt just trying out the shoe inside while standing to wash the dishes and fold laundry. They say all over them eco friendly but not when they’re so bad they are just adding to the garbage. I threw them out. I shelled out an extra $40 and got the orthoheel Vionic Oh! Active insole and now the shoe is great. I stood for 8hrs straight on hard concrete for a BSA fundraiser and was the only one not complaining about sore feet, knees, and back. That was mostly due to the insole change up. Cute, substantial sole, but for the price should have a much better insole. ... show more

    • My favorite shoes
I have flat feet and my right ankle started to give me a lot of problems. I haven't been able to find any shoes that were comfortable And that would support me properly. I wear a woman's 12 so I had to go to a men's size in this but it fits me perfectly. My foot feels 90% better. The support is perfect for my feet and I can wear them all day and not feel any discomfort. I am thrilled that I found these. ... show more

    • Comfortable right away, not breathable
Pros: I love that these fit well and are very comfortable without needing to break them in. Great soles and excellent traction. I love the way the bellows bit means that you don't feel it at all when the shoe bends across the top. Hopefully it is durable. Waterproofing is solid. The toebox is wide, as is the entire shoe - when worn, the profile is of a solid hiking boot, rather than a less substantial trail shoe. Not too heavy, I don't notice the weight. They feel great, and the lilac accents look nice. Cons: not what I expect for 100% leather - a good portion of it is covered in the plastic mesh, which is not in fact a mesh as it is quite solid. This means these shoes don't breathe, making them waterproof inside and out! If your feet sweat they will stay damp all day until you take the shoes off, which doesn't help for odor either. The mesh is very durable, but it means that any scuffs or damage to the leather stands out all the more. I don't mind a worn look to leather, but the exposed leather marks up very quickly and easily and seems softer than it needs to be - which is probably also why the shoes don't need broken in and are so comfortable right away, so that's the trade-off. Arch support was not enough for me, but the removable insoles are easily replaced with orthotics which is a plus. In spite of the cons, these are so comfortable to wear all day that I'm going to keep them. I was hoping that I could wear them in all conditions, but due to the breathability issue I will reserve them for cooler conditions that put the waterproofing to good use. I'll be wearing a more breathable shoe/boot for hot days and drier conditions. In the end, the comfort level is winning over any flaws for me. ... show more

Quality, appearance, support, traction is beyond my expectations. I carry mails for a living and do a lot of walking. My husband loves Keen. I never been one for expensive shoes but I gave this pair a try. I absolutely can't believe I didn't buy it sooner. These keep my feet well support and dry all day. First day, I wore it to work. I thought it was a little on the heavier side and the arch support bugged me but as months goes on. I realized how much these shoes help me in doing my job. I can't feel the arch support or weight on the shoes anymore. I guessed, I gotten used to it. When it is time to replace these, I know I'll be purchasing these again. ... show more

    • Stablilty and comfort
These shoes were a Christmas gift and I have only been able to use them thus far on urban hikes, not much off road. I wear them with my custom orthotics after taking out the removable insert. If I didn't have to wear my orthotics, I am sure the insert they come with would feel great, I just need to adjust for my neuroma and over pronation with custom orthotics. The cushion on top and sides is firm and stable and I expect they will soften a little after months of wear for a very customized feel. The flexible ridges on top of the toe are genius and give me more control. The soles mean business! I find these shoes stable, rugged and cushioned just right. ... show more

These shoes felt great on my feet from the second they came out of the box. I've had them just under 4 months now and have loved them but now the part on top of the shoe is all breaking open. I would not expect this in less than 4 months if wear. Very disappointing.

Bought these months in advance of a hiking trip thinking I had to break them in. Not the case with this boot. Comfortable right out of the box with no blistering and only a bit a rubbing at one ankle. Not enough to be uncomfortable or return them. It will just require the right sock. So far I've only worn them in a light rain so I can't say how waterproof they are, but my feet were dry the whole time. These hiking shoes were great. I purchased them for a trip to Scotland and they worked out well. They are comfortable and sturdy. The only down side was that they were sized pretty large. I didn’t have time to exchange them for a smaller size, so keep in mind when purchasing that these are sized with the assumption that you will be wearing thicker socks. ... show more
