I lived in Keen sandals every summer for years. But some of their models are very heavy. This one is light and breathable and very comfortable. Wore these walking round Cape Cod, hiking through Maine, and every day in Saint Thomas this year.     • Fantastic shoes for rivers and dry hikes, too!
My wife and I each bought a pair for a Grand Canyon rafting trip. They were perfect for the water, wet hikes, some bouldering and dry trail hikes, as well. Generally speaking, they fit very well, dry quickly and are pretty grippy on most surfaces. That being said, there are so many different types of rock in the canyon and some, especially very hard rock with smooth surfaces, can still be very slippery if wet or sandy, so just be careful and pay attention to where you're stepping (as you should). We especially appreciated the toe guards, too, FYI. We paid attention to those on our trip who had Chaco's, btw, and none of them fared as well as we did. Had to return the first pair due to sizing issues (my bad, should have read the review better on that). Return took much longer than previous items I've had to exchange. Once I got them the pull tab on the right heal broke immediately. Didn't feel like waiting on another return so I just cut it off along with the other sandal. Other than those issues after a quick break in period they're very comfortable and easy to maintain. I love my keen Newport's and they fit great but I wanted to go to a lighter shoe and decided to try the clear waters but they are to narrow for my size 12, (wide) gunboats. Although the quality is comparable to the Newport they are just to narrow for me. If Keen makes these in a little bit wider version, I would wear these rather than my Newport's because they are lighter for every day use. If your feet are more on the narrow side, I would recommend these. ... show more

I'm an 11.5, I ordered a 12 based on others' reviews and they fit like a 12 on me, a bit big. But the bungee tightening system worked well enough that they did not slide around on nor did I get any chafing or blisters after hiking to all of the Havasupai waterfalls. Gravel did get in-between my foot and sole while transitioning from water to land. But that may happen with any sandal style water shoe. ... show more

I bought these to wear in rain & for water rides while on vacation. First of all the fit is great for my feet, which are narrow with a low instep. The sandals are very comfortable to walk in, with just enough support & no spots rubbed raw. I wear a 12.5 in running shoes, with an insert, & the size 12 fit me just right. Great shoe. Lightweight. Comfortable. Great for going from boat, to shore, to hiking, to water, etc. Dries quickly. Sturdy bottom to keep rocks from poking the bottom of your feet. Straps don't rub on your feet, even when wet. Took on a trip to the British Virgin Islands. Did great on the hikes. Didn't scuff the sailboat. Great grippage.
