I've never tried KEENs before, but I've had many friends rave about the brand. My dad hikes every weekend, so I thought I'd be a nice daughter and order him a pair. He loves them! They completely envelope his foot and ensure proper posture and walking. He has a tendency to walk on the balls of his feet, and these shoes make him walk like a regular fellow. The toe tilts up, so he is forced to walk heel-toe. The tread is deep and sturdy, and he doesn't slide anywhere. There's a lot of foot, arch, toe, and heel support, and since they rise to mid-length on the ankle, they also support the entire joint. Very thick material and very, very high quality. I ordered the Bison color, and it's very masculine. I was a little unsure about the sizing, since many other user reviews varied as to whether the shoes ran big, small, or true to size. However, I decided to try out the 8.5, since that's what my dad's feet actually are. Turns out it couldn't have been a more perfect fit. The tip of his big toe reached half an inch from the edge of the shoe. If you order true to size, you might need to really loosen the laces in order to put your foot in, but that's what they're there for. Loosen them up, slide your foot in, and tighten them up.
