Made with durable, water-resistant mesh and featuring a breathable lining, the Men's Targhee Vent Mid Height Hiking Boot is built off KEEN's traditional wider footwear form. wide toe box, yet fits my heal well. decent support, would not use for backpack camping. one thing I am not sure about is the lacing system. rather than 2 pairs of metal eyelets at the top, they have a nylon band that circles the foot and tightens the side of boot. Left is new Voyageurs, right is new Targhees. Both mid (vent) not waterproof. I have a narrow heel and a wide-ish forefoot. Kind of a duck foot. Size 12-12.5 usually. Most D width shoes never fit me so I always look for “foot shaped” shoes (I still don’t know why shoe companies still make shoes that aren’t FOOT shaped. I usually go with Altra etc. but even they made their shoes narrower! I usually look for wides in “normal” non foot shaped shoes but then sometimes my foot slides around because the only part of my foot that is “wide” is forefoot etc. In the pic it may be hard to see, but Voyageurs have a MUCH better forefoot width. I think this is because on the Targhee there is a hard plastic strip that runs along both sides of the outside of the shoe and does not allow this area to splay or stretch when your foot is in the boot. Probably great for protecting from rocks etc, but limits foot splay. The Targhee sole & underfoot does appear more comfortable. Voyageur had better laces that are “wave” construction instead of smooth like Targhee. Other than that they are very similar. Too bad they won’t combine the best of both! I’m keeping the Voyageur as my toes don’t hit the sides. ... show more

Full disclosure, this is the first part of 6" boots I've bought in 10 years. Not a fan of 6". I could not get these to stay tight around my ankles. The top show string set up needs some work. But I digress.. I bought these for the sole purpose of doing a half marathon memorial ruck/march. Found out once I was there that it's all on pavement. After 13 miles my hips were killing me but my feet were not. Gold star for that. They are somewhat ventilated. I liked that. But the first thing I do with any pair of keens is throw away the insole.. Junk. Thats all I have to say about that...We'll see how they hold up over the summer in construction and add to this review in the fall ... show more

I'm trying to like these, but so far I have mixed results at best. I have regular mid Targhee's that provide a better fit overall and better ankle support. The problem with those was the sole separating after about 15 months. Fortunately, I found adhesive that has held so far. The ventilated version, even after wearing over a month, have been somewhat disappointing. They seem to hit strange around the ankle and sometimes I am left with pain at the front of each ankle. Ankle support is so-so. As some have mentioned, the toe box is more narrow. Perhaps with wearing them more, it will improve. I am a Keen fan. Not so much so far with this version. ... show more

I'd considered Keen previously, however at $150 plus and an updated design with smaller toe box, I passed. Delighted to find the older design vent ankle high boot on sale for $84. Worn once. Delivery time faster than expected for international shipment. US size 11 fits ok for warm weather and thin socks; the spacious toe box helps. I would get half a size larger for cold weather.
