I had a similar pair of Keen's many years ago and really liked them. For some reason I strayed over the years trying several different kinds of hiking shoe brands. None of them ever felt as comfortable nor performed as well as those 'old' Keen's. This new pair has made me ask why I ever tried something else. My hiking is what I think would be called moderate trail hiking, so I'm not too demanding on the performance aspect. But the tred firmly grips the any kind of trail ... firm, loose, rocky and wet. My feet stay snuggly in the shoe, no slipping around and plenty of toe room. For me, these are a keeper! ... show more

I have fairly wide feet and love Keens for that reason. These shoes, however, are wider than expected. I tightened the laces but then the top of my foot felt pinched so I had to back off on that. I still like them but others may wish to know.

I have been wearing Keen Newport H2 sandals as my go to summer footwear for many years and love them. Decided to try this Keen hiking shoe and they are just as comfortable right out of the box. I need a generous toe box and this shoe meets that requirement. I learned years ago to get the Keen sandals a I/2 size larger than what I normally wear and did the same ordering these shoes. I have a problem big toe and Keen is the only brand I have found that gives it an environment it can survive in. I walk and/or bike regularly and it is important for me to have footwear that does not further damage my toe and feet. I have a number of pairs of Keen Newport Sandals both normal and H2 in size 12. They fit and work fine for walking on paved surfaces but are not good for off road hiking as they pick up too much debris. I also use Keen bike sandals regularly and have clogs and Austins all in 12 and all work as advertised. I have had Keen clogs and bike sandals in 13 that were way to big. Last year I ordered a pair of Voyager Mid Hiking Boots in 13 thinking that 13 would give ample toe room. They seemed OK at first but in actual hiking conditions they are too small, too short. These Targhees are size 14 and I expect them to work. Another reviewer mentioned outsourced manufacturing. That probably accounts for the disparity in sizes across models. Keen needs better quality control! I think the Keen toe boxes are getting smaller too, perhaps to cut costs or perhaps to be more "stylish". I wish they would revert to the old toe boxes that looked like they were chopped off with an axe. ... show more

I get plantar fasciitis flare ups from time to time and these shoes help, especially when I'm doing a lot of walking & hiking. They are comfortable and durable, with a good grip for trails. It's hard to go wrong with Keens
