I've had Keens before so I'll assume these will last. The others did. What I'm really happy about, though, is the wide toe. It's hard to find a hiking shoe that is roomy for the toes but not too wide overall. I did research to find the best ones out there and this one was in the list. The boots are declared as wear-resistant, high-strength. Cracked 5 months after purchase. I was very disappointed and upset by the poor quality. This is completely different from what I expected for almost $170. This fact does not negate the fact that the shoes are very comfortable.     • 3 shoes prime wardrobe review

I am going on a two night 15 mile backpacking trip in a couple of weeks and my current hi-tech hikers are in need of replacement. I decided to use prime wardrobe, which was fantastic and I highly recommend it. I chose 3 top ranked shoes: 1: keen targhee 3 2: Solomon gtx ultra 3 mid 3: Columbia Newton mid. These 3 hiking shoes were among the highest rated I could find. I wanted a light shoe that was waterproof and had a big enough toe box to not cause any toe issues. Weight: the keens were only slightly lighter than the Solomons, the Newtons were noticeably heavier. I was surprised with this, because keens are usually big heavy robust shoes. Solomon is known for its comfort and roomy toe box and they didn't disappoint a good amount of space. The keens and Columbia boots were similarly adequate. There was an unexpected surprise with the Solomons, the arch support was hitting my foot in a bad spot and angle, it was to far to the heel and it made them uncomfortable. The Columbia's were much less expensive and frankly you could tell, didn't feel like they could be very rugged. Eyelets for the laces were rough and felt like they would eventually wear through, maybe on the trail. So the were out. It came down to comfort and price. I went with the keens. The Solomons were around $160, the keens were around $140-$150. I sent them all back and decided to get the keens in a half size larger. I actually got a very good deal, they had one color for $97 so I jumped on them, gonna end up mud color soon anyway. I strongly suggest prime wardrobe, especially for something this important. keen shoes were once durable high quality shoes , these are garbage , the sole came apart in the 1st month and i glued it back. for the price these shoes totally suck!

    • Not waterproof. Seams fell apart.
Within 2 months the seam between the sole and boot has separated. Definitely not a Waterproof like they should be. Completely dissatisfied and disappointed.

Keen always offers a great shoe, I have always been happy with their quality for cost. These hikers were no different. Comfortable enough to wear daily. Love them in fall months for rainy weather and keeping my feet dry. I haven’t put MILES on these yet, like I have other keen hikers.     • Started to fall apart after 2 weeks.
Rubber on boots started separating after 2 weeks on the first pair. Amazon replaced the boots but the second pair started to have the same issue after a month.

I've worn Keen boots for many years, they usually provide the best fit given the shape and width of my feet. There are other boots that provide better support for carrying a heavier backpack (40+lb) but these are great for short trips or lighter loads. I'm not a very heavy individual, weighing 145 pounds, and I don't tend to hike over rugged terrain, but the stitching has come out in several places on both boots and the outer surface has ripped or been punctured in a couple of places. Previous Keen boots lasted much longer so I am not sure if this is an isolated quality problem or they're using cheaper materials. ... show more
