I need wide toe boxes and this pair seemed to offer that and they do have plenty of toe room. They're good looking and initially comfortable. The sole are stiff and do not flex as much as I'd like for hiking shoes (why one star was knocked off), but they might break-in. The outer soles are soft rubber and appear as though they provide good traction on most surfaces (wet or dry). The size seems to be true... I normally wear a 10 and this pair of 10's (wide) fit my foot perfectly. They appear to be well made, but time will tell. I will be taking them on vacation, where my daughter will be dragging me on 5-10 mile hikes daily through mountainous and rocky terrain. I'll update the review when I return. 5/3/2026 update: First hike was 2.3 miles with elevation change of 918ft on a rock strewn washed out path. The shoes were very comfortable without need for break in. No blisters or hot spots. Although it was 85F and 90% humidity and I was a sweaty mess, my feet did not over heat. The soles gripped great on rocky surfaces. The wide toe boxes prevented pinching on the descent. No visible damage to the soles or uppers after the hike. So far, these shoes seem like they are going to do the job, which is to be a good waterproof hiking shoe. Note: they distinctly run large. Probably by half a size.

    • Very Supportive Arch with Good Stiffness and Cushion.

I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot and chronic ball-of-foot pain in my right. These shoes alleviated both conditions. I have no pain from either condition when wearing these shoes. I bought a second pair. The shoes are solidly made, very sturdy, with good cushion. They are roomy, with the caveat that I bought a wide. They provide solid arch support. Some might say the arch support is too severe. I feel the arch in my left foot, which is flatter than my right. At first, it seemed unpleasant, with what seemed a lateral ridge across my arch, but I decided to break the shoes in, and now the very supportive arch feels good. I'm very aware of it because it feels so good. The arch support in my right shoe is just right. I have no foot pain in these shoes. I wear a size 12, and the fit is perfect with a thick pair of socks. I even like the color. I bought hiking shoes to go hiking in Corsica. I will be wearing these, and I even intend to wear them in the airports. ... show more

I do a LOT of walking, much of it in urban areas but also on trails. I have heard about the KEEN shoes for years, and I finally got a pair late in 2023. (The pair I purchased more recently from Amazon was to replace that earlier pair.) The news is mostly good. They are very comfortable shoes, and I especially appreciate the roomy toe area. The uppers are solid and stand up to mud and water — I've used them for long walks in rain. The thickness and stiffness of the sole is just right for me — not too stiff for the urban walking, but providing enough cushion and stiffness for hiking on trails, including somewhat rough trails. The little loop at the heel is actually useful when putting the shoes on. The lacing system is straightforward and effective. The shoes were comfortable right out of the box and remained so. I would like to mention two issue that buyers should be aware of. First, like many similar shoes, the removable cushioned insoles are not very durable. After six months of use or a bit less the fabric on top of the insoles began to wear and I had to replace them. More concerning to me is that the soles wore down significantly after six months, to the point that all of the heel tread was gone and a hole revealed the underlying (and less protective) inner foam layer. Unfortunately, the soles are not replaceable. In fairness, I walk a lot and I do wear shoes out this way. But do be aware of this if you purchase this shoe. ... show more

    • Very durable and comfortable shoes! More expensive, but definitely worth the money!
This is my 3rd pair of Keen shoes in 10 years. The first two pairs were extremely durable and each lasted about 4 to 6 years of everyday use. My experience has been nothing but positive with this brand. My first pair was purchased at a Tractor Supply store in 2016. The second pair were bought on Amazon in 2022, and now in 2026 this is my 3rd pair if Keen's. Going off of the two previous pairs, these held up allot better than your average cheap pair of Walmart shoes, which was what I bought before 2016. Sure these are more expensive, but with Keen shoes, you really do get what you pay for, and more. This time I ordered a half size bigger than I previously bought, which a is perfect fit for me. I expect these shoes will last another 4 to 6 years, going off my first two pairs. Time will tell. I'm happy to stick with this brand for so long now. ... show more

I own four different styles of KEEN footwear, and this will be my third purchase of this particular style. As long as they keep making them, I will be a forever KEEN customer. I've read some of the other reviews and haven't had any issues whatsoever with poor quality and wearability. In fact, the opposite. I wear them daily to work, easily 9 months out of the year, and hike in them frequently--never had any issues with the soles giving out after a year or less, mine have lasted almost two years each time and they are rigorously tested. *** Update I've put about 200-250 hiking miles on these shoes since this review. The shoes are great on my feet but I am removing one star because of the heel lining. As you can see from the photo the liner fabric at the heal is tearing. In my opinion this is not good after so few miles. I still like the fit but I do wish the lining was more durable as this will reduce the life of the shoe significantly. I started backpacking about 5 years ago and have had nothing but trouble with hiking shoes. I've changed brands, sizes, socks, etc. but have never found a shoe that was comfortable. That changed when I bought these Keens a few months back. I've got about 300 miles of backpacking on them now including a recent 30 mile section hike on the AT. I can honestly say these Keens were amazing. Before a lot of my focus while hiking was how to minimize discomfort with my shoes going up and down steep and long terrain. I barely paid attention to my Keens other than to tell others how satisfied I was with my new shoes. ... show more
