EXCELLENT BOOT (we bought sizes mens 7 & 8)
Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
Size: 8
Hubs and I both purchased this boot and just came back from our first hike. WE BOTH LOVE THEM! CANNOT SAY ONE THING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEM. BUT HAVE PLENTY OF POSITIVES TO LIST: - no breaking in, comfy right out of the box (big plus) - beefy tread/lugs on the sole & kept traction on packed down ruts and in fluffy 6" deep snow - waterproof so far but we have a very dry snow right now (will update after we hit slush) - I appreciated the set-back lace hook to tighten the heel to prevent slipping (my right foot is a bit smaller than my left) - the entire boot is beefy and is a true hiking boot but not so stiff that the ankle cuff cuts into the leg - handsome dark brown with black trim and the classic Keen toe! - laces were long enough for all the boot eyes and then some - a plus - not too heavy of a boot to cause fatigue while hiking - here's how sizing worked for us; Hubs normally wears a 7.5W yet the 8M fit him perfectly; Me: I wear womens 7.5M but the mens 7M fit really well - we've tried on about 15 pairs of hiking boots, both thru Amazon and at a local brick 'n mortar and we could not be more pleased with selecting these boots Best of the best. Keen ... You've done it again! Thank you! UPDATE: Waterproof during slushy/melted snow. Will review after a big slush event.

Nice boots
Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
Size: 12
The quality and construction of this boot is very good. As always with keen, you get lots of toe room and a narrower and more secure heel. I do a lot of beach hiking, so needed a boot with all leather uppers that would be more resistant to salty conditions. Previous boots with any kind of plastic on the uppers would come apart. This is a heavier boot, so will more than likely take some breaking in time. Light keen boots are very comfortable right out of the box, but this one takes some time to break in if you are prone to blisters of any kind. Once this is done, they are very comfortable.

Hiking boots for wide feet.
Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
Size: 11.5 Wide
These are one of the few hiking boots genuinely designed for people with wide feet. They feature a generously wide toe box, allowing your toes to spread naturally without feeling cramped. An added bonus is the high instep design, which helps prevent pressure on the top of your feet making them especially comfortable for those with higher arches or sensitive insteps. Here's a review of 3 shoes that could work for people with wide feet: If you have wide feet, a high instep, or simply need more room in the toe box, finding a comfortable pair of hiking boots can be a frustrating journey. After testing several options, I’ve found three solid contenders that really stand out offering ample width, a non-restrictive toe area, and a high step-in design that avoids downward pressure on the top of your foot. ### 🥇 1. **KEEN Men's Durand II Mid Height Waterproof Hiking Boot – Wide Width** If you're looking for a **solid, heavy-duty hiking boot**, this is your go-to. The Durand II offers exceptional stability and support, perfect for rugged terrain or multi-day hikes. What makes this boot shine for wide-footed hikers: * True wide fit across the entire boot * Generous toe box with no pinch points * High step-in with roomy instep clearance * Durable and waterproof for tough conditions **Best for:** Long hikes, backpacking, and heavier outdoor use. --- ### 🥈 2. **Merrell Men Moab Speed 2 Mid GORE-TEX® – Wide Width** Prefer something **lightweight but still protective** The Moab Speed 2 Mid is a fantastic choice. It brings the trusted Merrell comfort with a modern, nimble design: * Lightweight and breathable, yet durable * Gore-TEX® lining keeps your feet dry without overheating * Wide fit and roomy toe box for all-day comfort * High instep design prevents top-foot compression **Best for:** Day hikes, trail walking, and all-weather comfort with less bulk. --- ### 🥉 3. **KEEN Utility Men's Kenton Mid Top Composite Toe Work Sneaker – Wide Width** Although not technically a hiking boot, this KEEN Utility model is a **versatile and comfortable daily-use option**. With a sporty look and workboot-grade durability, it's great for casual hikes or urban environments: * Wide fit and roomy design similar to KEEN’s hiking line * Composite toe adds light protection * Feels more like a supportive sneaker than a boot **Best for:** Everyday use, light hiking, and jobs that require comfort and support. --- ### Final Thoughts: * For a **rugged, traditional hiking boot**, go with the **KEEN Durand II**. * For a **lighter, more agile hiker**, the **Merrell Moab Speed 2 Mid** is excellent. * For **daily wear in style **, the **KEEN Kenton Mid** is a sleeper hit. All three are great choices if you need true wide widths, a generous toe box, and relief from instep pressure. Your feet will thank you.
