  • Perfect for Backpacking
Size: 11.5 Wide Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
This worked great on a 12 day trek through Philmont Scout Ranch. It does need to be broken in prior to a long hike as the leather is stiff.

  • Runs a half size small
Size: 11 Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
Overall, it’s an excellent boot completely waterproof just as good as Red Wings

  • Comfortable boots
Size: 13 Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
On my second pair. Fit like a glove and wear well. I wear them daily and they are the most comfortable shoes I own.

  • Great boot, but it's been giving me blisters and bruises for a month so far.
Size: 11 Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
This is the same boot I just wore for 2 years and needed replacing. I never had a problem with the first pair. This one's been giving me toe blisters and bruises so far for the first month. It seems this is inherent in that, you want a hiking boot at least 1/2 size larger, but the toe box will bend into your toes because it's waterproof and the tounge of the boot can't move. I may update this after a couple more months if things improve. ... show more

  • Good Light Use Outdoor Boots
Size: 14 Wide Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
These are great boots for outdoor recreation. They run a little smaller than Merrell boots which are also great. I wear a 13W in most brands but I had to go up a size with Keen in order to be able to wear midweight wool socks in cooler weather. They are lightweight, comfortable, relatively durable for most outdoor recreational activities and they sport a nice wide toe box for those of us with Fred Flintstone feet. The tread is moderately aggressive and they have good traction on hard, wet surfaces. The Keen dry waterproofing works well but I wouldn't go wading through a creek in these boots. As with most other boot brands, I had to replace the insoles with Dr. Scholes gel insoles, but I have foot problems that require less aggressive arch support and more padding. I really like these boots for outdoor recreation, which is their intended purpose, but I wouldn't depend on them as heavy-duty work boots. I was clearing some brush in wet conditions and I ripped a hole in the gum boots that I was wearing so I had to finish the job wearing these Keen boots. I tried to be careful of where I stepped but I ended up ripping the stitching on the inside arch of my right foot. This isn't really a knock against Keen's quality because these boots are not made to be heavy duty work boots but I have to rate the boots based on their performance according to the use I put my boots to. I patched the hole with super glue then covered it over with "shoe goo" as a temporary fix. These boots are quite expensive compared to some other brands so I'm hesitant to spend good money on boots that can only be used recreationally. I may get another pair if I can find them on sale but I would only wear them for their intended purpose and not for rough work boots. As outdoor recreation boots I would rate them a 5 out of 5 stars. As work boots I would rate them 2 out of 5 stars based on the kinds of work I do. I spit the difference and gave the boots a 3 out of five star rating but I wouldn't let that deter you from buying a pair if you plan on using these boots recreationally or for work that doesn't require a high level of durability. The soles are still holding together which is more than I can say for the Danners I wore for a little over a year. They are little on the expensive side compared to some other top brands but these are US made and the glue holding to the soles together seem to be of higher quality than other overseas made boots I've worn in the past. ... show more

These boots fit great straight out of the box. Very comfortable; first pair of soft toe shoes my husband has had in over twenty five years! He is very happy with the fit & feel of these boots!

  • I wanted these to be my boot for life.
Size: 8.5 Wide Color: Cascade Brown/Gargoyle
I've worn a bunch of different hiking boots over the years, and none have matched the comfort of the Keen Durand II. If you have extra wide feet like I do and struggle to find "wide" footwear that is actually, properly wide, try the Durands. They are roomy and good for all seasons. The traction is very good, a bit short of a German or Italian alpine trekking boot, and they offer good protection underfoot as well as in the toe cap. Seriously, I've kicked plenty of rocks on trails and never felt a thing. I describe the Durands as the middle ground between sneaker-like brands such as Hoka and Solomon on one side and alpine boots like Lowa or Scarpa on the other. You sacrifice a little bit of agility and a little bit of ruggedness but end up with a well-rounded and versatile boot. A minor complain is the lack of padding along the inner side of the foot, particularly at the widest point just behind the big toe. Occasionally a rock or root will glance off that area, and it hurts. Needs some thicker material there. Here's the reason for my wistful headline: These boots have a design flaw. The stitching at the outer portion of the foot, at the widest part the ball, is in the worst possible spot. That is the spot most likely to strike a rock or a root or be scraped by ragged underbrush, so I can't understand why the designers would think that was the right place to join the leather sections of the upper. I've got about 200-250 miles on my Durands and the stitching is completely torn out, leaving a gap wide enough to slide a pinky inside. Funny thing is, when I first got the boots, I ran into a guy on a trail who had the same boots but a year older than my pair. He said exactly what I'm telling you now: Within a year, the stitching will rip in that spot. By contrast, I have a pair of Propet boots that are inferior in most ways but have over 400 miles on them without any notable damage. I've since moved on to European trekking boots so I can marry durability and performance, but I'd certainly consider another pair of Keens if they fix that one design issue or add a rand. ... show more
