Haven't installed it yet. Just came in box, with no adhesive, tools or directions. Will have to buy 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 separately and figure out the proper installation steps. The only guidance I see is in the Q&A where it says: To install the boat keel protector, prepare the hull surface, score, etch, clean, prime, and attach it using the strong self-adhesive 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant 5200 included in the kit. Please note that Keel Primer is not included. Not a lot to go on... I've updated this review to 5 Stars. The company reached out to me and made everything right. Any seller can have something go wrong, it is the exceptional ones that make it right.

This product does not adhere. Prep was done simple soap wash area, and wipe down. Applied the protector and within 48 hours it was starting to detach from the hull. The weight of the product does not match the adhesion that is being used.

Product works good regardless of the negative comments. As suspected, those who claim it didn't stay adhered didn't properly prep surface and apply as directed. Some tried it on kayaks and complained that it didn't adhere. Well the PE that most kayaks are made of resists adhesion and you can't properly heat the keel gaurd and beat it with a mallet as hard as you have to to apply the product. Follow the instructions exactly. Mark your area with tape, sand the entire area that the adhesive comes in contact with on the hull. Wipe with alcohol multiple times. Stick, heat thoroughly, and beat it with a mallet while heating to work out air bubbles and really melt that glue into the surface profile left from the sandpaper. Don't put it in the water for at least 24hrs. I would have given it 5 stars but it's only been in the water 4 times since installation. 2 offshore trips with heavy chop and 2 trips to the river where I drove the bow up on a sandbar. No signs of it coming loose and it took a pretty good beating. If it lasts a year then it's worth the price and the 45 minutes it took le to install.
