I really love the print on these oven mitts; that’s the main reason I got them. Given that they’re from a fashion brand, I already suspected that they might not be as functional as oven mitts from a housewares brand. But I decided to give them a try. I figured there must be an R&D team that reviews these things before they go to market, so they at the very least should have some protection against the heat. As a test, I boiled water in my electric kettle, put one oven mitt on each hand, and held on to the sides of the kettle. It took about 10 seconds for it to feel noticeably warm and about another 50 seconds before they were hot. Given that an electric kettle only gets to about 212 degrees Fahrenheit, versus an oven that’s often used at temperatures exceeding 400, I’d recommend these be used with caution when dealing with very hot items. Edit: I've since tested these mitts with hot items straight out of the oven, and to my surprise, they actually hold up to temperatures exceeding 400 degrees. So I'm revising my original rating to reflect that. ... show more
