  • KastKing Karryall Fishing Rod Bag, 81L Rod Case UNSPSC Code: 49131500 ASIN : ‎ B0BKKJ14DK
Color: A:Black
KastKing Karryall Fishing Rod Bag, 81L Large Storage Water-resistant Rod Case • UNSPSC Code: 49131500 (Fishing tackle) • ASIN: ‎ B0BKKJ14DK Overall Rating: 4 – it is great for what it is – in my mind – designed for. This Rod Bag will work very well as long as you know what is - and isn’t, and use/pack/carry it properly. I recommend it for the use suggested – while I’m sure it has many others, it may not perform as well. When it first arrived, I was surprised by two things. The size of the package (~15”x~17”x~3” thick) and it’s weight (~2½ lbs). Then after opening, the size of the bag itself. What it is: • This is a large (nearly 4 feet tall and 1 foot in diameter) duffel with outside “pockets” and outside pockets fishing rod butts, and Velcro straps for securing the rods to the bag. What it is not • It is NOT a “Travel” bag or for carrying long distances or over narrow paths. It works great for what I got it for – to carry multiple rods, reels, tackle, ground blanket, folding chair, food, drink and anything else needed to spend a day at the lake or favorite fishing spot for some “recreational” fishing with the family. I did not get this to “pack” for a fishing trip, or to carry in my canoe, carry for long distances or in “rough” terrain. Pros • Its big. It will carry a lot. • Can use as an approximately 42” long 12” diameter duffel that will easily hold a folding chair, or split into separate compartments (~15” Lower with zipper flap and ~24” upper with draw-string closure) • It is not “rigid”. Can be refolded to the “shipping” size easily for storage when not in use • “Padded” bottom (with rubber button feet) and a (tethered but can be folded back) padded divider so the items you place in the lower compartment are fairly well protected from ground or upper compartment “dings” • Molle System on the lower compartment access flap (webbing arranged in a grid so you can weave Molle “attachments” into it and affix in any arrangement you desire) • Outside compartment that perfectly holds a (KastKing) tackle tray (or place multiple trays in the lower compartment • Well made, with a lined interior – no raw seams exposed Cons • Its big (Also a Pro) • Not “rigid” or self-supporting (Also a Pro) • Shoulder strap “D” rings are attached (sewn) directly to the fabric – there is no encircling strap for added support or a “backbone” to provide rigidity • No extra “D” rings or loops to clip or tie other small items to the outside of the bag for quick access. (Yes - there is the Molle.) • Draw string closure, like ALL draw string closures, leaves a hole when closed as tight as possible – not a problem, just an FYI if it rains • By design, rods are “outside” the bag - with open rod “butt pockets” - exposed to elements • Single shoulder strap – no other carry options. What I did was to gather a several full size and “Child” size rods & reels, a pup tent, golf umbrella, bucket and more to “load” the bag. (Bucket was to over 12" in diameter so too big) First, with the bag not being “self-supporting” it was difficult to attach the rods as the bag kept collapsing - I ended up hanging it from a door, which made it much easier. Secondly, I was reminded that my rods were not created equal. Some were very long, some short, some multi-section, some were one piece. Some had the reel right at the butt, others had a short below-the-reel grip, some long. Same with the reels – different styles/sizes. I could not see any time I would want to keep a sectioned rod fully assembled when using this as it would present a risk of damage to the rod or injury to companions walking with me. As I stand over six feet tall, the rod would extend way over my head or to the front or back depending on how I carried the bag (“back-pack” style with the bag resting on my back or slung over the shoulder and carried at my side). I did try it though, taking a short walk down a wooded trail. When simply walking, the swing of the very tall bag from one shoulder made it all but impossible to control, causing the longer rods to catch on underbrush or low hanging branches. One-piece long rods would have a similar problem. I also found, that when not “stuffed”, which would make it more rigid, the shoulder strap supports located at the ends caused the bag to sag in the middle. In my case, with the “too short” rod and umbrella, it became visually obvious and physically difficult to carry and maneuver. See the pictures to better understand what I found. Overall, a good quality bag, and it should meet its intended purpose well if used properly. ... show more

  • Exceptional craftsmanship
Color: C:Green
The bag is very impressive. It is extremely well made and has a ton of room for all my fishing gear. It has a separate zipper panel at the bottom of the bag that allows easy access to my tackle trays. When the trays are placed in the bag, you will find a nice padded, adjustable divider that serves as the “floor” for the upper portion of the bag. This upper storage area is HUGE….plenty of room for my dry bag, jacket, or a small tent. It securely holds my rod and reels and the provided reel protection is nice and sturdy. I am very pleased with my bag!! ... show more

  • Convenient
Color: B:Khaki
Bigger then I thought, but lots of storage. This was the perfect solution for keeping our poles from tangling in the car. It keeps everything in its own place and makes it convenient to travel with. Once we got home simply remove from the vehicle and store in the garage as is. Other similar products had many complaints that poles slipped out. Not with this one .We loved the American flag patch. ... show more

  • A huge disappointment
Color: A:Black
This bag is a HUGE letdown. I was thinking that Kastking was a good and reputable brand in the fishing industry. However, when we put in 10lbs of stuff, mostly towels, a small tacklebox, and clothes, along with one fishing rod, the carry straps snapped. To make matters worse, we tried to carry it the rest of the way to the beach, yet the seam on the side completely ripped!!! Freaking disaster, and not going to lie, I'm really angry with this brand. It seems like 'Made in America' has no weight with this company, because this was hands down the worst bag I couldve gotten. I've since then, invested in a different brand of bag called Riverruns, and their bag is FAR better than this one, actually able to hold its weight!! Severely disappointed with Kastking, especially as this was a gift for my hubby, and the day we went to the beach to fish was our anniversary. This darn bag made everything a pain in the butt. Never again. ... show more

  • Decent pole bag
Color: B:Khaki
It was a nice bag to put poles in. Poles go on the outside while the inside is accessed through side doors and works nice for a change of cloths or extra tackle
