Description

The Kapro 170 magnetic I-beam spirit level has one level, one plumb, and our Patented Plumb Site Dual view vial for determining horizontal and vertical plane as well as with a sensitivity of 1 mm/m (0.001"/inch). The vials are made of injection-molded acrylic to resist breakage. Rubber end caps help absorb impacts. The base has several in-laid rare earth magnets to adhere to metal surfaces. The level has an heavy duty aluminum frame with two milled leveling surfaces for accuracy, and a handgrip for portability and ease of use. It is available in 24" and 48" lengths. Levels are used in the building trades, engineering, surveying, and metalworking, among other applications.

I have own the level for 15 months. Half of the liquid in the level bubble vial is gone. There is no signs of leakage. Plumb bubble vials are ok. No success in finding a replacement bubble vial. Totally useless as a level. Did a little research. Learned that some vials are filled with alcohol and not water so that they don't freeze in the winter. With alcohol having a lower boiling point than water any small opening in the plastic housing and the alcohol evaporates. The better levels use a low viscosity mineral oil. ... show more

The price is Right, the weight is light, and I just might use it on my next big job for a year and a half. Butt seriously it is a phenomenal level. Excellent design I am a Stabila owner and these make steel stud frame work and door and window installation a breeze.

Got this level when Amazon appeared to have an especially low price (and it went up after I ordered it). The vials are especially easy to read, and the cut outs in the top surface makes it very easy to read. The description is pretty accurate, and all the features appear to be just exactly the way they are described. The magnets are strong. This level is supposedly aluminum. Either there is a thick plastic coating on a thin aluminum structure, or only the top and bottom edges are aluminum. The level is very light, but it doesn't seem flimsy, it's just seems to be more plastic than metal. What I want out of a level is: a) The level is really level. The surfaces do appear to be milled. I don't have a machinist's straight edge to check it, but it seems very flat. My caliper says that the edges are parallel. b) Easy to read - the vials on this level are easy to read, and the bubble is the right size to judge level c) Rugged enough to not worry about handling it - I have some concerns here, but as I said, it's not at all flimsy For what I paid for it, it's a great value. At the current price, you can get an empire level, which is a bit more hefty, but doesn't appear to me to be as accurate or as easy to use ... show more

Doing a basement, all steel beams . Very light level, Good rubber on ends , magnetic holds good on corner beads . Shipping could have been better, bigger box with no packing, but very good price. Accuracy,easy to read, light weight.

Excellent quality and very durable. It has substantial weight to it and easy to read. The plumb vial has a mirror making it very convenient to see where you are at. Great length to have.
