  • When there is nothing left to take away...
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
Real genius is in the execution of a design so perfect, that there is nothing left to take away, and the addition of anything else makes the overall form lesser. This standard set is all but perfect. The handle fits the hand well, and has an excellent finish. The blades are incredibly sharp, well sized, and leave a smooth finish, even in very soft wood. Very easy to get set up as well as put away. The carying bag is very high quality, and honestly, as well as this works, I would have expecting cost more. I would buy again. ... show more

  • Fantastic Saw
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Fine Work)
Purchased the Fine Cut Kit, I have used it on multiple projects and has not let me down in any way. The canvas bag is of solid material and has plenty of space for the whole range of blades. The flush cut blade has been the one I’ve used most as it’s this and very clean cut with good technique.

  • A steal for the price
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Fine Work)
The pros: The locking mechanism is surprisingly snug for an interchangeable blade system with different blade thicknesses. I haven't experienced any wobble yet where the blades meet the handle. The locking mechanism is the same as their replaceable ryoba saw so you could switch blades to say... an extra ryoba saw handle you have lying around and cut it down to the length of this red oak handle for a lighter handle that has a dimple catch for extra locking force. They are beautifully sharp and leave such smooth fine surfaces that when I ripped a small piece of pine it almost had the same shimmer that it would have from hand planing. Not quite, but close. If any sanding was needed I would feel confident going straight to 320 grit or whatever your finishing grit may be. They stay fairly straight through the cut. I'm a beginner with all of this but I noticed a huge difference between these and the cheap saws I had been using up until now which has saved me significant time on cleaning up cuts. The few cons: No dimple catch like the replaceable ryoba handle. Only the hardwood and keyhole saws are induction hardened which was not clearly stated in the product specs, only slightly hinted at. I'll be using these for softwoods, mostly paulownia, but it would be great if the info was more forthcoming before you lose three teeth on the 7" dozuki while slowly sawing a piece of red oak. Because they're so thin some of the unsharpened parts of the saw blades are sharp enough to slice your fingers open with little pressure like a paper cut. It's annoying but an easy enough fix with a small file, just something to be aware of before inserting a saw blade into the handle. I would absolutely buy these again knowing all of the small problems, and plan on buying more Kakuri products asap. ... show more

  • beautiful finish and material
Color: Japanese Saw (Fine Cut 7")
The handle is made of a very pretty piece of wood, i think it's oak, very smoothly sanded and left unfinished. The blade feels like a very sharp and sharpen-able steel. Blade is easily removed and i think it says they are interchangeable with other blades? I've ordered a couple others to confirm. If so, it makes the saw a great value, as the different blades are around $20 a piece and there are several other styles i could also use. Look at replacement blades for something like a silky saw at 2-3x or more the price.. I hope the blade attachment mechanism to handle interface is strong with lots of pulling going on. ... show more

  • Fast, effective ripsaw
Color: Japanese Saw (Rip Cut 10")
Much faster and easier to use than my ryoba. Can resaw logs about five times faster than my ryoba. Handle is comfortable and provides good grip.

  • Very high quality.
Color: Japanese Saw (Flush Cut 7")
Cuts wood like a hot knife passing through butter. Very sharp and comfortable handle.

  • Excellent saws
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
I make mostly small boxes and other tools. I’m able to make surgical cuts with both the rip (bought separately) and the fine and general purpose blades. Comfortable handles and secure latching mechanism. I’m really glad I got these, my shooting board gets a lot less use these days.
