Description

KAKURI Japanese Woodworking Tool Brand KAKURI Corporation was founded in 1946 in Sanjo City. Sanjo City is the leading production area of cutlery in Japan. We manufacture the products with superior quality and functions, such as saws, chisels, carpenter tools, and more. Taking advantage of more than 70 years of experience and results from our founding in 1946, we design hand-made products individually. From a professional standpoint, we select and sell only high-quality products. Please feel and enjoy the authentic Japanese products of the KAKURI brand. Many traits distinguish saws from East and West, but it all boils down to this: In Japan, you cut on the pull stroke. Pulling keeps the blade straight, so it can cut slimmer than a Western blade. Since thin blades produce thin kerfs, Japanese saws remove less wood, produce less sawdust, and need less muscle power. You can cut longer, more accurately, and with less fatigue. Kataba is a backless saw with a stiff blade and fast-cutting teeth, well suited for making deep or long cuts. As the interchange parts are compatible, you can freely combine blades and handles according to the wood material and cutting purpose. KAKURI Kataba saw series does not require any special tools for replacing blades. We used only top quality Japanese steel and Japanese oak handle material to this KAKURI Flagship saw series. Feel the gem finished by skilled Japanese blacksmiths and craftsmen in Sanjo, JAPAN. Japanese keyhole saws called "Mawashibiki" or "Hikimawashi" are used to make narrow curves or to enlarge holes or give them the wished form which are made with a drill bit. Because they cut on the pull stroke and have very strong sharp teeth, they make clean cuts in the most awkward of areas. The blade teeth are moderately rough. It is suitable for fast cutting. Japanese rough cut saw is ideal for efficient cutting work. Since the blade is specialized for fast cutting, you can downsize wood material quickly. Especially suitable for cutting thick and large wood. Japanese semi fine cut saw is ideal for general woodworking. Since it has benefits both of "rough cut saw" and "fine cut saw," it realizes quick and precise beautiful cutting. It is a versatile saw that is easy to use, from beginners and DIY use to professional carpenters. The special blade of the Japanese universal saw has a highly efficient tooth for both crosscutting and ripping. You do not need to change the blade side like a general Japanese Ryoba saw (Double-edged saw) and can work freely without worrying about the direction of the grain. • Excellent saws
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
I make mostly small boxes and other tools. I’m able to make surgical cuts with both the rip (bought separately) and the fine and general purpose blades. Comfortable handles and secure latching mechanism. I’m really glad I got these, my shooting board gets a lot less use these days.

  • Sharp and fine. Great quality as expected
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
I'm not a Japanese but I am confident of Japan products. I saw somebody else of Youbube used this saw for woodworking. Really love it. I couldn't wait to take a shot immediately after I got it. A bag comes together with the saw kit. It's very of Japan style. Each wrap of blades is simple but obviously packed elaborately. Good saw with thin blades make the cut surface fine and clean. I could saw without too much force. I'm going to test longer and hope it will work as expected all the time. ... show more

  • Great Value Recommended for Newbies
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
Great value. Looks great. Cut well. Super convenient if you don’t have a lot of space for storing saws but want some flexibility in capability. Be warned, the handles are very smooth. You could add grip tape I guess but realistically you shouldn’t be pushing on these that hard. If you find yourself sliding around in the handle be careful not to cut yourself and relax a bit. The steel is thinner gage than a western panel saw so you can bend these if you really go ham with them. Wonderful for cross cutting. Ok for rip cut. ... show more

  • When there is nothing left to take away...
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
Real genius is in the execution of a design so perfect, that there is nothing left to take away, and the addition of anything else makes the overall form lesser. This standard set is all but perfect. The handle fits the hand well, and has an excellent finish. The blades are incredibly sharp, well sized, and leave a smooth finish, even in very soft wood. Very easy to get set up as well as put away. The carying bag is very high quality, and honestly, as well as this works, I would have expecting cost more. I would buy again. ... show more

  • Works well for jointing
Color: Japanese Saw Set (Standard Work)
I use this saw pretty consistently. The swappable blades are really nice, really sharp, and good at what they do (they cut!). They do bind quite a bit on harder woods, but it's not a problem, and some of the blades are pull only (not push-pull), which took a bit of time to figure out. Rule number one of hand saws is to not force a cut and take your time with it. The blades have an extremely thin kerf and cut better than the other saws in my shop. You do have to be careful not to bend the blade or cut yourself accidentally. The handle is comfortable and easy to grip. The locking mechanism is pretty firm-- it doesn't allow the blade to wobble while using it. For cutting tenons, it's pretty accurate to get the cuts you want without too much tearout. I'd likely buy more of the blades once the ones I use start to wear out. It's worth the investment if you do a lot of cuts by hand. ... show more
