  • Great product, easy install, half the price of OEM & retains factory warranty. The last filter you'll ever have to buy!
The last time I took my 2009 335i to the BMW dealership for an oil change (at 35k miles), they recommended changing my air filter. They wanted to charge me $120 parts & labor! The K&N 33-2367 High Performance Replacement filter is half that, and during the performance car parts sale Amazon had this winter, I was able to get the K&N filter for $45. Installation is incredibly easy, even if you've never worked on a car before. If you need help, there are plenty of installation videos on YouTube that walk you through the process. The three main things to know are: 1. The clips on the air intake box take some force to open, so don't be afraid to get bad with it. A flat head screw driver can help, but I was able to open them just with my hands. The clips are attached, so you don't have to worry about them dropping into the engine bay. 2. When you remove the older filter, make a mental note of the orientation it is sitting in the air intake box so you know how to put the new filter and, and make sure no debris falls into the box. I used a small handheld vacuum and a paper towel to clean out the little bit of dust that was in there. If you use a rag instead of a paper towel, make sure it's lint free so you don't do more harm than good. 3. As mentioned before, make a mental not of the orientation of the old filter as you pull it out, so you know how to put the new filter in. The rubber edge takes a very small bit of stretching and pressing in to get a good seal all the way around. The top of the box should go back on smoothly if you've installed the filter properly. I've had this filter on for a little over a month now, and have driven around 350 miles since installing. I can't say I noticed a big difference in performance, gas mileage, or engine noise. With that said, my old OEM air filter looked almost brand new, so it probably wasn't hurting my gas mileage to begin with. I've continued to get around 23.5mpg with 75% city driving and 25% highway driving. Also, I rarely drive my car hard, so I can't say I notice a performance improvement. If there is an improvement, it's minor, and beyond my "butt dyno" capabilities. The 2 HUGE benefits of replacing the OEM air filter with the K&N High Performance air filter are that I paid less than half what one OEM engine air filter would have cost me and will never have to buy an engine air filter for my 335i again, and I retain the factory warranty. This product comes with paperwork stating the factory warranty is retained when installed, and instructs any dealership to contact K&N directly if they have a problem with that. I made sure to put that in the glove box with the rest of my vehicle's paperwork. Overall, I'm very happy with this product, and will continue to be a K&N customer for life. ... show more

  • E90 N54 Nice filter.
I decided to keep my stock airbox instead of going with DCI. Supposedly the stock airbox is pretty well designed. So K&N filter it is. My air filter was well overdue for a change, I mean my car was probably suffocating, so for me it was a noticeable difference. Nothing crazy in terms of added power. She just feels smoother. Less restrictive on acceleration , more responsive to the throttle. In comparison, I'd say these filters give you a slight more aggressive acceleration. But that could also be due to my filter being clogged. Either way, I'll never have to buy a new filter! That's a plus! ... show more

  • 5/5 stars...this thing fits great on my 2007 335i e90 sedan
Purchased this as I wanted an upgraded air filter from the stock bmw el-cheapo filter. It was getting time to replace my filter (extremely dirty), and having used K&N filters in my previous cars, this was a no brainer (I didn't want to go out and spend 300-500 for an aftermarket system). Filter fits nearly perfect, took a little wiggling to get it to sit perfect, but once in it looks and performs great. You can tell that this filter is quality, and holding it up next to the stock paper filter you can clearly see that it's made of much better material, and should flow better too. I'm pretty sure it's just a placebo effect, but after swapping it out, the car seems to be a little quicker, however I'm sure it's only placebo...my old filter was really REALLY dirty. you can't go wrong buying this, and Amazon had the best price I could find anywhere! ... show more

  • Excellent.
Put this in a BMW E90 335i N54. I have an exhaust delete and MHD 1+ flash. I plan on going for the stage 2+ using this filter and the stock air box. Not sure how it will do at the higher stages but I like the OEM look in the engine compartment. For now at 350 hp or so it is great. No intake noise and it does not feel starved for air. I will update after increasing the stages. ... show more

  • 2009 BMW 335i
Instslled this in my 2009 e90 335i and have been very happy so far. It's not as aggressive sound as a dual cone intake offered by some, but with my factory warrenty I don't want to do much to the car for now. Filter offered a bit better respone low end toqure has increased slightly and a slight bit more turbo noise as well. All in all a good buy for a car still under factory warrenty. ... show more

  • Better mileage 1-2 mpg
Observation: I tried my best tracking mileage on my 535xi with 60% highway and 40% side streets with about 250 miles/week of travel. Last winter, I used to get about 18-19 mpg with the stock filter. This time around I peaked to nearly 23 mpg in fall and about 21.5 mpg in December Chicago winter with the K&N filter on. Conclusions and Inference: If anything, the consistent 21.5 mpg (for a 535xi) in winter using is still a bonus, although I am guessing it is a combination of the Mobil 1 oil, K&N oil filter and the K&N engine filter all of which I changed to at the same time. If anything, I would suggest changing to K&N on both accounts (oil and engine filter). I cant really say the engine is more responsive or sounds different. Of course, the build quality is superb and I won't reiterate that at length. Update 1 year later: I tried cleaning and reoiling the KNN filter after 10,000 miles (should not have done it) but I must not have reoiled properly since the engine started knocking around 65 mph speed prompting me to buy the regular Mann filter. I will have to embark on reoiling before I use the KNN again. Lesson learnt: don't be overzealous about cleaning KNN filters too soon; you could run into problems. ... show more
