This was good for what I needed it for . My only complaint is that the only puppy formula is chicken flavor and frenchies are allergic to chicken usually ! It was a little confusing figuring out how much to add to homemade food and it did cause her poo to be a little runny. Unfortunately will not be purchasing again but I don’t think it was the products fault . Just allergies played a big part. ... show more

My dog drools and goes wild for this food! I purchased the frozen food for a while, but decided to suck it up and spend time making his food, instead of a butt load of money to save time. It’s super easy to make, though the directions aren’t entirely clear when it comes to the rice. Is it 24 oz cooked rice, or 24 oz uncooked rice? I couldn’t find anything that gave a direct answer to that question, so it’d be nice if they included that in the recipe. Other than that, this has helped my dog with his millions of allergies to everything, so I’ll keep making it. ... show more

I have been buying this for my dog for over 2 years now. I get my item today and notice that even though the package is bigger, there is WAY LESS PRODUCT IN THE BAG!!!! The old bag you got enough for 30 pounds of food, now it’s only 19 pounds of food! They are still charging the same price for less product. They thought that by making the bag bigger we would not notice the amount in it was severely reduced. This will be my last bag from them! PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR PURCHASES! We have been using JustFoodForDogs for a little over a year now, and we love it! We have a small mini poodle mix who is prone to a lot of health issues, which includes: oily skin, frequent anal gland secretion, brittle fur/nails, fur loss, and anxiety. She's an older dog, so she also has some minor joint pain and mobility issues. In addition, she is an extremely picky eater. When we first adopted her, she was on a kibble food. About a month after adopting her we switched her over to JustFoodForDogs. We use the Chicken and White Rice blend. In addition, we also give her flax seed supplements and the JustFoodForDogs fish oil supplement. We have seen fantastic results after switching her food! Her fur has grown back and is very soft/shiny. Her nails are very firm and are no longer brittle. She has not had an anal grand secretion issue in over 6 months. Her skin is a lot less oily and she is no longer as prone to breakouts. She also seems to be less anxious. She also likes the taste of the food, too, which is very helpful! It also makes us feel better being able to cook her dog food at home using good ingredients. We like knowing everything that is going into her dog food. We know where the chicken is from, what kind of rice is being used, whether the vegetables are organic, etc. Strongly recommend this product, along with the fish oil supplement! ... show more

Not sure how my dog is gonna like the changes as the food will be less flavorful and be less fish scented…. I wrote to the company directly after receiving what I thought was fake product (odorless, tasteless, white-flour-like-powder) - here is what they sent back: On Mar 27, 2024, at 3:03 PM, JFFD Support <[email protected]> wrote:  Hello, ___ Thank you for reaching out to JustFoodFoodForDogs Product Support and for bringing your concerns to our attention regarding the texture change of your Do-It-Yourself Blend. We want to assure you no nutritional changes have been made to the blend, it is still the same ratio of ingredients as before and poses no risk to your furry friend! Due to the availability of DCP or Dicalcium Phosphate used in our Do-It-Yourself Nutrient Blend, our nutrient supplier has brought in two different particle sizes. Most commonly in the past, we have used a larger, granular particle that may have a tan color and a fish odor. Both of these particle sizes met our required potency and were approved for use by our Quality Assurance and our team of on-staff veterinarians. The finer particles are more white, powdery, and odorless. The larger particle size absorbs color and moisture more easily than the finer particle which causes some color variance compared to other batches with the finer particle. We want to assure you that our new source of DCP is still a high-quality, human-grade supplement. We have a 5 month lab puppy and he is a picky eater. We tried a number of different options from different types fo dry kibble, wet canned food, dehydrated, fresh food sold in stores, and raw...He was not interested in eating except for raw food and every meal time I had to sit with him for 30 mins try to feed him and he ends up eating like half of it. We also tried taking his bowl away, which did not work and we did not try further because we didn’t want him to lose his health. Feeding raw for a lab puppy for every meal was financially burden for us.. because for the amount he needs.. we had to spend $400-500 per month for nutrition-balanced raw. Then we found this and he loves it! The recipe is easy to follow and you just need to scale all the ingredients and portion the meal right for your dog. To feed him for a month, we need two tin cans and with all the ingredients we need.. our calculation comes down to ~$90 per month to feed him, which is about the same as feeding him premium dry kibbles. This is probably the most affordable way to feed your dog fresh food if you can invest 1-2 hr on the weekend to get the ingredients and cook them. We had trouble finding chicken liver at first then we went to local meat supply store and got all we needed. We wish they have more recipe for large breed puppies and we are excited to try out other recipes once he grows up! ... show more
