I originally was looking into walkie talkies for a communication device as our 8 year old plays outside but came across this watch. I’m genuinely impressed and very happy with this purchase. The setup was very easy to do and just took a few minutes. You can set up contacts and add contact pictures through the app that the parents control. I added a photo of the watch compared to my 32mm Apple Watch. It is big however when it’s on their wrist, it fits securely and really doesn’t look that big. The watch itself can take calls, text messages, displays the date and time, set alarms and timers, can take pictures, counts steps, you can change the background, and it also has a tracker. The app is fantastic. You do text your kid through the app and you can track the watch and change settings. You can turn on the notifications so you’re notified when you receive a text. We are still working on texting because he is 8 so it’s all new to him. We do have the screen protector on the screen and we didn’t enough effort into that part haha. The app also lets you know when the watch needs to be charged. I really love it. It works well and we are more comfortable sending him outside to ride bikes and ride the bus. You do have to pay a monthly service fee to keep the phone number active but I think it’s worth it. ... show more

    • Not a reliable communication device
I purchased this device for my disabled child. I’m a pediatric nurse and it was very important that he is able to reach me easily. I went with this watch since his school doesn’t allow cell phones. It has not been reliable from the get-go. I complained to Amazon, I complained to the maker of this watch to no avail. I returned the watch. The maker advised me to buy another one and said the problem would be resolved. Surprise, surprise, it wasn’t. They told me I needed another ds card to put into it. It still didn’t work correctly. I get his messages a day after he writes them. I can’t reach him on the phone because the call doesn’t go through. The battery is short lived, etc. I was told it was due to communication towers. I asked Amazon for a refund, by the way, as of today, they aren’t even offering the watch. What does that tell you. They have many poor reviews on Amazon too. Our child are our most precious possession. It’s even more crucial to have a reliable contact ability when that child has a disability. Although I explained to Amazon the circumstances as to why I didn’t return the item for the second time within their 30 day, I did expect it to be reimbursed. They denied my request. My last thoughts, pay the extra dollars and get a better product. Your child and you may need it. ... show more

    • Quality kids smartwatch, great features for the price

I’ve been pretty skeptical about buying our kid a smartwatch. We have a lot of friends who have gotten kids watches like the gabb watch or gizmo with a lot of mixed reviews. After having tried the Cosmo watch I’ve concluded that its a great product and probably the best option unless you’re ready for an apple watch for your kid (we weren’t). It’s exactly what we were looking for in a kids starter phone/tracker device. Also, our kid just loves it. A few things to know: PRICE: All these types of phone + gps watches require some kind of service plan. The device itself was by far the cheapest we found (most start ~$150). The Cosmo plans start at $14.99/month if you pre-pay for 12 months. There are slightly cheaper plans out there but we’ve realized that they all bake in HIDDEN costs like extra for device insurance and activation fees. The cosmo plan just included these in the price. FEATURES: A lot of kids smartwatches have similar features like calling and GPS. Our Cosmo watch has been great for this and really reliable. Some extra reasons we went with Cosmo: it has optional 911 calling which most don’t have; it auto-blocks calls from unknown numbers; and it has an open keyboard so kids can type. All the other watches we looked at only had pre-set messages and our kid is old enough to type his own. COULD IMPROVE: First the battery lasts a full day but you’ll definitely need to plug it in each night. The charger connects to a magnet on the back of the watch. I like the idea but I wish that the charger was stronger - bumping it can make it disconnect. Lastly, as the parent you can call from your contacts list but have to text the watch through the Cosmo app. (I think that I read somewhere that they’re fixing this). OVERALL: Bottom line - the quality is great on the watch, the service and features have been reliable (we’ve only had one issue with GPS accuracy) and the price is the best you’ll find out there.     • Great for what it is, Relatively short battery life

Overall, I think this is a great, cheap option for a kid. The accuracy is good enough, though not super accurate where you can tell which car someone is in when they're parked in a parking lot like the accuracy of Apple's "FindMy". I like the emergency option but decided to turn off the 911 feature because it only takes a double tap and my kid has already done that more than once by accident. In my opinion, the emergency option should take more than 3 clicks of the button, especially for a kid. The battery lasts long enough so that my kid is home by the time the watch dies, but I wish it lasted all day. I like the parental controls so that the watch can't be used in school. It does give kids a sense of independence too. My kid loves the fact she can call or text me and her mom. Calls work normally, but texts have to be through the app. Not sure if there's a security reason for that, but would be nice if I could just use my normal texting app. That's not that big of a deal to me, though. The calls are clear enough and there's an option to send audio text messages as well, which we use all the time. Again, I think the watch is great and I'm getting a second one for my other kid. It's awesome getting random "I love you" texts and selfies from your little ones. You have to get all the love you can before they grow into teenagers and think they know better than you in everything haha! ... show more
