  • This is awesome!
Color: Blue
We got this watch for our son (age 7). He's had a few incidences where he has gotten off at the wrong bus stop on his way home from school and one time where he went to a friend's house instead of coming home. Needless to say, we needed to be able to keep an eye on where he is, but we didn't want to give him a phone as he isn't responsible enough for one at his age. This watch gives us the ability to see where he is all the time. It has a school mode setting so he can't use it during set hours. He is also able to text or call my husband and me to let us know when he's off the bus and on his way home. This has been a game-changer. We don't need to worry about where he is anymore and if he gets off at the wrong spot we can get to him right away. The only downside to this thing is the battery life. He leaves at 7:30 AM with 100% battery and when he gets home at 3:30 PM his battery is at around 15%. This depends on if he's calling or texting before and after his school hours turns on and he can't use it anymore. His teacher did say that he checks the time on it almost all the time so maybe that's a factor here, I'm not sure. It's been so nice to not worry about him anymore and to know that we can contact him if we need to through the app. We can call or text him for updates and the app tracks with automatic location updates, or you can switch to live tracking. Overall, it's a great product and for any parents out there like us who have to worry about where their kids are, it's the perfect solution. It's very affordable and the monthly service contract is way cheaper than a phone ($17.99/month). It was worth it for our anxiety and I'd recommend it to any parent who worries about their kid. ... show more

  • I really wanted to like it but I can't recommend it.
Pros: - Easy to use and set up. - No app store, no social media, no "bloatware" preloaded apps, no internet browser. - The mission control app for parents is cool, I like that it sends you notifications when the battery is low or when it's outside of a "safe zone". Lots of control over contacts and other settings. - GPS is pretty accurate. Cons: - The battery life is just not good, especially considering the OS doesn't appear to be very demanding and there are only a handful of preloaded apps. After initially receiving it I let it charge until full. It died within a day, but that's to be expected after the first charge with some devices. Sometimes batteries need to calibrate a bit after first-time use. I then left it on the charger overnight. My daughter took it off and played with it a bit before school the next morning, then left it on the kitchen table (I don't let her bring it to school, I don't want to have it be a distraction or run the risk if it getting taken away. I wanted her to have it so I can call/text her when she spends the night at one of her grandparent's houses, when she goes to her mom's in another state during school breaks, and so she can call her family whenever she wants. Maybe even let her go to the park across the street by herself as she gets a little older). I got a push notification through the mission control app that it needed to be charged soon around early afternoon. By the time I got home from work it was dead again. This has been the norm since. - My daughter was so excited to be able to call her family. But it kept dropping calls, especially outgoing calls for some reason. There is an optimized call feature that lets you use VoIP via your WiFi network but you have to get a brand new phone number to do this. It was annoying to have to reach out to her mom/grandparents/aunts/uncles and explain to them that she has a new phone number and that they should call that one moving forward. - Unlimited texting is kinda false advertising. The watch only lets the user text people who are designated as a "guardian" in their contacts, and guardians are those who have the ability to change all the security settings in the mission control app. And those guardians can only text the user of the watch through the mission control app itself. Which means it's not really texting via SMS, it's messaging via data. So essentially my daughter can only "text" her mom and myself, since I don't want to give everyone in my family guardian status. - As far as I can tell, there's no way to connect earbuds or headphones to the watch, so every phone conversation is a speaker phone conversation. - The charging cable is some kind of proprietary magnetic connection that easily slips off and doesn't feel secure when connected. Really wish it would have just been standard micro usb or usb-c. - Unless I'm just dumb and don't see it, there's no way to save a WiFi network either in the watch settings or in the mission control app. So every time after I charge it up and turn it on, before giving it to my daughter I have to reconnect it to the WiFi. Which feeds directly into the optimized call issue. If I forget to reconnect it to the WiFi the calls will drop. Overall I really wanted to like this. The concept was neat and I was sold on the whole "no browser, no app store, no social media, only contacts you allow" feature. I thought this would be a nice way to ease my 7 year old daughter into tech, especially since I see so many kids (some even younger than her) glued to their smart phones, smart watches, and tablets these days. I don't want my daughter to be behind the times and out of the loop compared to her peers but I definitely don't want her turning into a tech zombie or potentially being exposed to something. But as you can see the cons just far outweigh the pros. I will probably just end up researching something else or maybe get her a "dumb" flip phone or something. If they come out with a new version that addresses the issues listed above, I may give it another chance if I haven't already found something that works better. But ultimately I'm disappointed with the product in its current state. ... show more

  • Great for what it is, Relatively short battery life
Overall, I think this is a great, cheap option for a kid. The accuracy is good enough, though not super accurate where you can tell which car someone is in when they're parked in a parking lot like the accuracy of Apple's "FindMy". I like the emergency option but decided to turn off the 911 feature because it only takes a double tap and my kid has already done that more than once by accident. In my opinion, the emergency option should take more than 3 clicks of the button, especially for a kid. The battery lasts long enough so that my kid is home by the time the watch dies, but I wish it lasted all day. I like the parental controls so that the watch can't be used in school. It does give kids a sense of independence too. My kid loves the fact she can call or text me and her mom. Calls work normally, but texts have to be through the app. Not sure if there's a security reason for that, but would be nice if I could just use my normal texting app. That's not that big of a deal to me, though. The calls are clear enough and there's an option to send audio text messages as well, which we use all the time. Again, I think the watch is great and I'm getting a second one for my other kid. It's awesome getting random "I love you" texts and selfies from your little ones. You have to get all the love you can before they grow into teenagers and think they know better than you in everything haha! ... show more

  • Not bad for the price
We bought this watch to keep track of our 8 y/o son while at school and on the bus. The GPS feature was the main reason for our purchase. Set up was pretty simple, but it did take a while to "activate" fully. So far the GPS seems to work well, minus the fact it's been delayed at times stating our son is down the street ( on the bus) and he's actually at home. It also has issues with placing calls. We've attempted called him a few times and the calls didn't go through, it simply dropped. However, the few times we were able to make calls, the sound quality was decent. The battery life could be better (immediately after school battery is 20% or less) and the charging set up could use some work. The magnetic end that attaches to the watch comes off too easily if move even slightly. The actual watch is perfectly sized for a kid and light weight. For the price and what we use it for, this waych is not bad at all! ... show more
