They block light, but if you're looking for a complete blackout you need to get them big enough and mount them so you won't get light seeping in around the outside. It says they have to hand washed??? I put them in the washer on permapress with cold water and dried them on low and they came out fine. They block the light and look very nice. I wasn't sure what I would get with "grayish white" but I'm glad I ordered them. They are not grey, but look kind of tan. Perfect for me. ... show more

Replaced my Salt by Bed Bath & Beyond curtains with these because the width on the other ones wasn’t right for the window.. these are almost identical for $50 less. You will need to steam or iron them as you can see in my photo, I also hem taped them to remove about a half inch just since it’s in the playroom and on carpet, if you need to shorten these, the hem tape worked perfectly on this fabric. For the price, you’d expect these to be cheap looking but they’re so nice, not cheap looking at all! Definitely recommend. ... show more

This is seriously the 4th set of curtains I purchased from Amazon promising thermal insulation and blackout. This is the only one that has met my expectations for early Colorado morning sunshine and is really thermal insulating. Don’t waste your time on other curtains. I rarely write reviews but these really exceeded my expectations for the price. 100% blackout with heavier lining on the back. Beautiful linen look up close with slight variations in color as shown, but very subtle. After steaming them from the package, they were perfect.
