This is my first tool from Jorgensen besides their clamps. I've always been impressed by their clamps and this level continues with that appreciation. The level is not a normal torpedo level. I usually associate a "torpedo" level with a smaller 6" level that is made rather cheaply. This level is very well made and should provide a lot of use for anyone needing a good level. First, I really liked that this level is made of a heavy-duty aluminum billet which is hallow to accommodate the leveling gauges and LED light setup. One side is ground flat to ensure a perfectly flat surface is always used for your reference. Within the ground-flat surface is inserted 2 magnetic feet. These magnets are strong enough to keep the level attached to a steel surface so you can free your hands while manipulating the squareness of the work piece. Inserted into the hallow of the aluminum billet is a holder for 2 AAA batteries and LEDs to light up the horizontal and vertical level gauges. The gauges have green dyed liquid that show up very well in the LED light and also register the bubble of the level distinctly. It is VERY easy to read this level! The last feature of this level is a bit more controversial to me... The level has thick rubber blocks at each end. These prevent damage should you drop the level and I can appreciate this. The controversy for me is that the blocks are not part of the ruler measurements along the base of the level (which by the way has imperial on one side and metric on the other, Nice!). The rule indications start very near the beginning of the aluminum casing but not quite at the beginning. There is a small but distinct space between the aluminum beginning and the zero mark. This all means that the ruler cannot be used to measure anything that prevents the level from butting up against it when a zero reference is needed, as when measuring from the inside of a corner. Anything measured will have to be "open" and free of interferences that block the level from placing the zero mark within the space occupied by the rubber end blocks. That all being said, I still like this level a lot and can still give it a 5 star rating because I rarely use a level as my primary measuring instrument. For the functions I want to use this instrument for, it is definitely a great tool.

This is a solid, well-built torpedo level. The aluminum body is perfectly flat, the magnets are strong, and the enlarged center vial with illumination is easy to read. Overall fit and finish are exactly what I expect from Jorgensen. It takes two AAA batteries, and you’ll need a small Phillips screwdriver to access the compartment. Not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you’re used to tool-free battery doors. My only real gripe is the rule. The level is 16", but the scale measures about 14.5" because it starts where the end guard meets the aluminum. If you butt the level against an edge, you have to mentally add roughly 3/4" to your measurement. The metric scale on the reverse has the same limitation. That said, as a level it performs beautifully - which is what matters most. For actual measuring, I’ll still reach for a tape or rule.

Very high quality level with a couple of features that I wasn't expecting. It has a built-in LED for illuminating the bubbles when it's dark out which is great. The LED is very bright too, it works excellent. I also like the measuring marks it has for inches and CM on the other side, that makes it extra useful. I like this 16'' size too. It's long enough to be useful for larger projects, but it still fits inside my cabinet drawer. This Jorgensen level feels very well-built and solid, I think it should survive any job site. And it does it's job well. You can see from my pictures that the shelf I built is *not* level and needs some adjusting! I didn't even realize that until now. The things you learn once you get a proper level...

The media could not be loaded. From a strictly utilitarian perspective, the value maybe isn’t the best. You can get comparable tools for cheaper. That said; this one just feels really, really nice. It has a nice and solid aluminum body, with plastic end caps and covers for the magnets. The level tubes are well installed, with no signs of loosening or coming out, and the LED button is also solid and strong feeling. The bottom is fly cut rather than ground, so it is a bit rough; however, I think that is probably a good thing, as it makes the level less sensitive to dust. There are no visible defects whatsoever. The manufacturing quality is extremely high. This looks and feels like a fairly high-end product. Something nice that was built to last, rather than a hastily thrown together assembly. The magnets are quite strong, and will securely hold the level against any ferromagnetic surface. The LED is a very nice touch. It seems a little unnecessary, though it’s probably more useful in construction environments rather than my diy workspace. Regardless, it is a nice and cool thing to have, and is implemented very well. It feels like something well built into the tool, not an extra feature hastily added to help sales. Overall, I love it. Even if you can find something that does the same thing for a bit cheaper, I do love well built tools that look and feel good, and the price here seems completely reasonable for how well this is made.
