I'm a woman that wears men's fragrances. I have another John V scent that is light and nautical. I bought it at a department store and loved it except it didn't last long. This just arrived today and 1. Bottle is gorgeous. You can definitely tell it's a more sophisticated scent. I did one spray and it's lasting long. 2. I didn't like the initial smell, but the 2nd layer i loved. now I'm on the 3rd and I don't love that too much. It's certainly a powdery smell. A bit strong. I may come back and update as sometimes it takes scents a few wears to grow on me. However I think this is a late night going out scent and well... Pandemic. I think it would mix well with one's sweat in a lounge ... show more

I've used this cologne for 12+ years. And I'm experiencing this cologne last for 2 hrs. That's not possible, it has normally gone strong for 6 to 8 hrs. I remember having this issue about 7 years ago and again that purchase was from amazon. I'm not sure what the deal is, maybe poorly warehoused or it's just old stock. But being amazon and seeing Prime, I thought I would give it a try and return if the results were poor. Welp! Can't return this on amazon for some reason. Waste of money and the list of items I will never buy on Amazon grows. ... show more

When I first found this, it was on scentbird where you can get small samples. It took me a long time to find out which John Varvatos it was that I had. Well I was lucky enough to find the right one and let me tell you I have got so many compliments from wearing this one here. It doesn't have a very strong scent, however now that I can think of it when you put it on it does last for a while. Gents get this for your lady she will not stop sniffing your neck or even better wear it to work and watch how many have their nose up in the air trying to find out where the scent is coming from. ... show more

Cologne is a very personal thing. It has to complement your personality, where you're wearing it to, and how you're dressed. Some people shouldn't wear certain scents, but this one for me is a total winner. I've had women tell other women to hug me hello on purpose because "he smells fantastic." Nice strong manlier smell. goes great if you are going out for some whiskey or going to have some scotch. compliments a man's manliness well a fresh smell of man to spray over the man. It smells good I get lots of compliments on it. "Whats that smells... it smells good, who is that...(trying to find the person wearing it... secretly me...)" "You smell nice" or "You smell good" sometimes they will repeat that same compliment with ! a few minutes later and get closer... Good stuff ... show more

I do like the scent of this cologne, however, I prefer the Vintage John Varvatos better. My wife prefers the Vintage as well. I find that this fragrance does not last nearly as long as Vintage either. I put twice as much on and it is gone by the end of the work day. (Edit) Now that I've been wearing this for a few months, I've gotten to where I like the fragrance. I've also had some compliments from others. That being said, I still prefer the Vintage mores, but I'm recanting my previous edit a bit. The fragrance still doesn't last all day though. ... show more
