Joby makes great equipment, though this could be a little more accommodating for tablets with covers. Won’t fit an iPad Mini with an Otterbox. Almost Perfect without. Could be even more secure. Removing protection, especially for outdoor use, is not ideal.

I chose this because I have an extremely well-made cross-body camera strap from Joby that will outlive me. After ten years of heavy use, it's still in perfect condition. I assumed all of their products would be like that. I mounted this on a swivel tripod arm and after only a day of use, the plastic in which the receiving nut is placed came apart. I already ordered a fully aluminum mount to replace this one. I wouldn't recommend this if you'll regularly move the tripod or mount. Even moderate stress on it would worry me. The sliding mechanism that secures the tablet is metal and the plastic parts that secure its orientation seem fine and quite strong for what they do. However, to have a very small metal mounting-nut surrounded by plastic makes no sense to me. That mounting-nut should be the strongest point as it is bearing all of the weight of the tablet and mount itself. I'm kind of glad it broke so quick because it would have broken in the field right away when I needed it most. ... show more

    • Works, but tablet slips
I have two of these for holding tablets to stands/rods for outdoor work use. They fit the tablets, but sometimes the tablet will slide in the grip even when the clamp is closed down small around the tablet sides. I use a small strip of double sided tape on each of the clamp rubber ends to adhere to the tablet and then apply tape over the clamp/back of the tablet. Not pretty looking, but the tape prevents the tablet from slipping in the mount. ... show more
