I recently purchased the JKS spare tire plate mount to use with my 2013 Jeep Wrangler. I was looking to be able to relocate the license plate from the stock location to in the spare tire. If you are looking to do the same thing I did or replace a broken license plate holder you may have interest in this item. The JKS spare tire plate mount is a great product that will achieve what you may be looking for. The product is a heavy build. The metal is not thin and weak but strong and sturdy. The price is affordable and seemed to be cheaper than other brands that were offering a similar product. The paint looks great and seemed to hold up during install. The plug that comes with the product for the original license plate is also of the same build quality as the license plate holder. It fit with no issues and sits flush and even. The instructions were easy to follow and you will only need simple tools to complete the install. You may have a few issues with the product during install. The screws, bolts, and nuts are a low-grade product that you may want to replace in the future to prevent rusting and breaking. The way the instructions want you to install the license plate light may also be troublesome. They instruct you to cut your third brake light wire and tap into your passenger taillight. As a result, your third brake light will no longer work. You may not want to do this. With some ingenuity you can use the original license plate light wiring to power the new license plate light. You can run the wires along the back of the jeep and through the tailgate. The wires will be hidden, look professional, and your third brake light will still work. Overall, the JKS Spare Plate Mount is a great product that offers quality and easy installation. I would recommend anyone who is looking for an easy and affordable way to relocate their license plate to buy this product. Amazon was able to get it to me in a timely manner, and I was able to install it within an hour!

I purchased this for use on my 2004 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rubicon. The included instructions only cover Jeep Wrangler JKs and JKUs. I did a couple of my own modifications to make it fit my TJ. I installed this on the stock Jeep Wrangler TJ tire carrier FYI. First, I had to drill a hole in the center of the stock tire carrier between all the studs to hold the spare tire. I drilled this hole to run the wires for the light through (no picture, I'm sorry) Second, I connected the ground wire to one of the stock screws on the tire carrier. Third, I removed the bottom tailgate hinge cover and drilled a hole in the top right corner but where the plastic cover would still cover it up. I drilled this for the power wire. Fourth, I connect the power wire to my tail light's power wire (so when I turn my running lights or all of my lights on, the license plate light would turn on). Fifth, I re-installed the tailgate hinge cover and zip tied the power wire in a couple places to keep it as hidden as possible. Sixth, I re-installed the spare tire on the carrier and made sure everything worked! The directions do help somewhat still even if you aren't installing it on a JK or JKU. See my pictures for the finished product. (Ignore the misplaced rings from my ORO tail lights, my iPhone camera always does this in pictures.) Also, the only downside to this product is the light is super bright so it shines a lot on the ground, but at the same time it also lights up the license plate perfectly. Fantastic product, with a somewhat simple install. The entire project only took about two hours, but that is mainly time spent figuring out how I was going to do this and keep the wires hidden.

This is a great buy! Bought this for my XJ and it worked perfectly. Very sturdy, looks good, and was a very easy install. I’m not sure how others thought this was a difficult install or why you would even need directions. The bolt on part is common sense. As far as the wiring I just tapped into my taillight power and ground and it was that easy. I would definitely recommend this verse the other $100+ kits I found on all the off-road sites!

The sturdiness of the steel is top-notch and accompanying hardware and parts is equally good. Although the installation instructions are well written I found it easier splice about 12ft of wiring from the stock license light to my aftermarket LOD tire carrier veses the door. Overall, this product is well worth the costs of buying an American made product. My only complaint is the light has been coming on intermittently, about 70% of the time. I've troubleshot the problem to the light, which was unexpected considering quality of the rest of the product. I'll be reaching out to JKS to see if they have any other customers with the similar problem. Regardless, I would still recommend this product, and buy again.

I gave this product and seller a 5 star. The price is great, all parts come to install and drive(no piecing things together), easy to install. My light did not work. I requested a replacement light and got more in return. Quickly and a light that works. Thats great customer service. Thank you love the product! Now my stock location plate holder will not be snagging on any tight places i take the jeep into. This is what you need!!

Needed this as my tire carrier covered my plate. Getting it wired up took some time and the connectors that come with it aren't the greatest. I ended up using my own connectors that I could pinch and heat shrink better than those in the kit. The cover piece for the old plate location was another issue I had as the screws are stainless and I have a black jeep, they stick out pretty clearly so I painted them. Otherwise the light is bright and it is holding well.
