My neighbor behind my room has a very bright light in their back yard. It keeps my room so bright at night I did not need to turn my own lights on, the brightness disrupted my sleep. I use these behind the curtains so the are not seen but they defiantly keep the light out. I would recommend them for the room darkening purpose. The curtains are one layer which is pretty thick and should serve the purpose which I chose them for - to darken the room. I washed them on a delicate cycle and dried on permanent press. I hoped that would rid them of some of the folds and wrinkles that happened during packaging and shipping.
