This is a beautiful curtain. I bought the golden brown, and it's a lovely deep gold, very soft and silky in texture, thick and opaque without being excessively heavy, good for darkening and insulating a room. I haven't had reason to wash it, but the label gives washing instructions (no dry cleaning bills -- yay!) I bought a single panel (52") and cut it in half for a 30" window. It looks wonderful with tie-backs made from material I removed from the bottom because my outer walls are only 7' high. If there are tie-backs, you may want to consider purchasing those too since that gives a classic look appropriate for the rich material. Of course sheers beneath complete the image ... and this shade of golden brown goes with almost anything! Minor drawback: the curtain was a little wrinkled, and I don't think it's wise to iron velvet, no matter what the label says. The creases are almost gone two days after hanging. ... show more

Here is how this compared: Overall ranking: High Length: accurate to 85" Fabric color: a true, cool-toned sage green. Blue-er than most varieties on Amazon, which tend to be more olive green Fabric weight: heavy Fabric quality: Highest quality velvet on amazon. There are NO visible tracks, threads, or stitches/weaving. The edges fall nicely and are sewn well so they don't droop due to uneven sewing. Back color: dark; looks like a dark olive green with the thermal insulation woven in Blackout (Y/N): Yes Width availability: 52" only These curtains are double the price of other "cheap" velvet curtains on Amazon but they are absolutely worth the price. Unlike most others that I've tried, they are true blackout curtains and the fabric itself is gorgeous. Great value for the quality and look of these curtains. Compared to other velvet curtains that can cost over $100 a panel, these are a steal. Great quality, beautiful color, and charming sophistication. These are not completely black out as you can see some light goes through even when they are closed, however these are very heavy and block out a lot of drafts coming through our single pane windows. These are very pretty, plush curtains. They really elevate the look of my bedroom. I ordered the light blue and was a bit concerned they’d be pastel, like a baby shower, but they’re not. They’re a darker, gray-toned light blue. The curtains came folded up in compact packaging, so to get rid of wrinkles I machine washed them in cold water then put them in my dryer with a wet hand towel to steam out the wrinkles.
