  • It works, but with a few compromises
Our pup got in the habit of ringing the bell at the door very early on. We love that! However, the old bell we had was on its last leg, so he'd try to ring it sometimes, and it wouldn't ring loud enough for us to hear. We wanted to take care of that issue as quickly as possible. So, we ordered this doorbell, and it is working for him. We had to drape it over our door handle because the buttons to make a hook were too small. It's made for more of a knob than a slider handle like ours. It hasn't been a big deal for us because he's very gentle when he rings it, but I can see it being an issue for others who have bigger dogs. The "ring" itself is pretty quiet. It's due to the cheap bell and casing. Our last one was much louder, so we could hear it upstairs. I'm still figuring out this because there haven't been many times he's ringing it while we've been away from him. He's still five months old, so he's always with us, but I imagine the older he gets and the more independent he gets, he'll ring it to go out when we're away from him and may not hear it. We'll see. All in all, look around for another option. Spend more than $12 and get something that is louder, more durable, and can securely fit on any handle. ... show more

  • Works Great!
We have a dog door, but our new dog doesn't seem to like using it. We are also unsure if she will fit adequately when she is full-grown. So, we are training her to use bells attached to our back patio door to indicate when she wants to go out and potty. We have trained other dogs to this method and it seems to be an easy thing to do and works well. I know there are other 'high tech' ways being offered out there that hook up to your phone -- but you have to download yet another app for those kind -- and then trust that the company that makes them will not go out of business and stop the tech support for the app and product. This is simple, effective and easy to train your dogs to. I didn't need all the bells, just one set on the back patio door -- but I have a spare in case I need one. These were really inexpensive and came in many different colors. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Good training tool for potty training
I like that it comes with a regular bell and two bells for the door handles. My only complaint is I wish it had one more button to determine the length as it is still quite long even on the “shortest” size.

  • A great option for renters &/or people who share walls with neighbors. Not just for dogs.
This arrives altogether in a heavy duty plastic fold-top bag. This 3 piece set (a 'desk type' bell for the floor & 2 straps with bells on a doorknob loop) is a great idea for an alternative to pets scratching at doors or vocalizing (meowing or, especially, barking) to go outside. Place the floor bell near the door & your pet can comfortably step on it to ring when they want to go out - a lot like the 'talking' buttons that are making a splash on the internet right now. In addition, the strap with bells can be hung on the doorknob of the door you let them outside from & they can either bat at it or grab the strap in their mouth & shake to ring the bells. I'm not too sure if the second strap is for a second door or to hang outside for when your pet is ready to come back inside. If it is to hang outside, I can see some major issues due to weather in our area - it is often windy & I wouldn't necessarily know if it was the wind or my pet ringing the bells. With all new things, this is a learning curve requiring diligence & rewards for wanted behavior(s), so we humans have to do our part, too, to instill this new habit into our pet(s). As the Mom to both cats & dogs, I can foresee a day very soon when the cat decides to ring/bat the strap just for the sheer fun of it. When that day comes, I'm prepared: The behavior we're trying to instill is pet rings the bells, then human lets pet outside. So, a few times of the cat ringing the bells & being shifted outside whether they really wanted to go out or not (especially in rainy weather) should get the message across that this is not a toy, but a tool, just like the 'talking buttons'. Since we don't want to encourage excessive barking & would rather have our doors unscratched, we like this idea & are excited to be initiating this training a few months before moving into a new home where we hope to have doors that remain scratch free! So far, we highly recommend. ... show more

  • Cool training product, price and quality is good
The media could not be loaded. I like the fact this came with 2 hanging bells and 1 doorbell as we have several doors. I wish the straps were a little shorter, as we live in an older home with smaller door height so these drag a bit on one door and get in the way but otherwise these hang on the knows great. The foot door bell has a nice tone and design. Hoping he doesn't just rip thr bells off the door thinking it's just a toy to play with, but so far so good. He's receptive to learning so far. Love training tools like this that are made well and affordable priced for those of us wanting to train and give our dogs independence and things to occupy their minds and keep them out of trouble. Definitely will take some time to get him trained, but repetition is the key with this item. ... show more

  • Perfect for Training wihtout runing your walls/floors
We started using an electronic button that used Bluetooth or some sort of digital connection to a chime plugged into the wall to potty train our dog to let us know when he needed to go outside. The training worked great, but the chime started going off randomly in the middle of the night when the dog was in the crate and we think maybe there was a conflicting frequency or something to make it go off? We looked for a manual alternative to avoid that issue. This works perfectly. Our dog easily transitioned to hitting the manual bell and on the other door we hung the bells and he hits those easily as well to let us know too. My favorite thing is that these don't require a sticky tap to keep it in place. The bells hang on the door with a simple loop end and the bell is heavy enough on its own to stay in place (although a dog could pick it up in its mouth and move it if your dog is big enough). The electronic one we replaced with this had a sticky adhesive part and it left residue adn peeled of some of the paint where we stuck it when removed. Lesson learned and I am happy with this new option! ... show more
