  • Good quality
Style: Benchtop drill plates
I bought this for my husband for Christmas. He says it is easy to use and the quality is good. It sits higher than expected on his work bench, but he is making it work.

  • Very well thought out!
Style: Benchtop drill plates
The Jet Benchtop Drill Press is excellent! With its laser aiming device and light, you’re able to see exactly where you need to drill. It has plenty of power to do the most audacious drilling into whatever material you have. Very impressive!

  • Good Drill Press
Style: Benchtop drill plates
I really like this Drill Press. It looks good and is well built. The motor runs good, it is a nice size and power. The drill chuck runs true but the teeth that connect with the chuck key is not a very good fit. I plan on getting a Keyless Jacobs Chuck. The only thing that really bothered me was the Spindle Spline has too much clearance with the Drive Spline and makes a rattling noise at certain RPM's. I bought a tube of Vavoline Cobalt Heavy Duty #2 Grease. I removed the rubber plug on top of the Drive Sleeve and forced grease between the Spindle Spline and the Drive Spline while moving the spindle up and down. This quieted most of the noise and made it feel smoother. Quality control would have eliminated this problem. I also put a light coating of grease on the vari-drive sleeves, outside surface of the quill and teeth. I also loosened up the Spindle Return Spring to my liking. I had bought a (Dewalt Planer Stand DW7350) and mounted the JET Drill press to that. I thought I could save some money and bought a cheap 12" Built Hard Drill Press. The motor ran very hot and was tripping my GFI and the spindle runout could beat an egg. This was total JUNK. It was returned the next day. Overall I am happy with my JET 12" Drill Press Purchase and recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Nice drill press
Style: Benchtop drill plates
I really like this drill press for my little garage shop. It do most things well with the following exceptions: 1. There is no way to lock the quill in position, making it difficult for drum sanding. 2. There are no holes in the table to secure a larger table. 3. Adjusting the shaft speed is a bit difficult without really pulling or pushing the adjustment handle hard. The table light and the red crosshairs makes it easy to know the point of contact with the drill. This is a pretty good value for my limited requirements. I would buy it again. ... show more

  • Love this machine
Style: Benchtop drill plates
I had a Delta before, but I gave it away when we moved a couple of years ago. This JET Drill Press is SO MUCH BETTER than the Delta I'm amazed. It's much heavier so it is more stable. The 1/2 HP is very powerful. The variable speed allows me to drill perfect holes in a variety on metals and thicknesses. I just haven't found anything I don't like. I haven't checked the runout on the spindle or chuck yet, but I'm not worried. I don't see any wobble visually and there doesn't seem to be any vibration. All-in-all it seems to be a great machine. Oh, and it shipped quickly and was well packaged. What's not to like! ... show more

  • Nice features for the price!
Style: Benchtop drill plates
I am a fan of Jet products, I have this drill press, a bandsaw and a sander. All are good products. My first impression of this Drill Press is that it was a breeze to setup, it’s pretty heavy though, the work light and pinpoint laser work great. Now what I don’t like and I guess I will call customer service to try to fix is that when it starts up it seems to be fighting itself, like an old car you had to pump the gas to fill carburetor so it would start. It then keeps on going from there without fluctuating anymore. I of course played with it and tried things out and it seems to be a bit under powered. I needed to make a 1.5 inch hole in 1 inch thick red oak. I turned it on and started and I would slowly go down, it would stop about 1/4 inch in and had to free it. It went through eventually, but the hole saw kept falling out, no matter how hard I tightened it. I know this isn’t made for heavy industry, but I could have done this hole a heck of a lot faster with my 20v dewalt drill . I feel like for $600 it should be able to do this no problem, time after time without issue. So overall I am disappointed, but maybe my expectations are a bit high for wanting a 1/2 hp drill press to be able to drill fairly easy. ... show more

  • NO SERVICE FOR THIS MACHINE
Style: Benchtop drill plates
This Drill Press fell apart after 22 minutes of initial operation.I have ca;lled the Company 2 times and never was offered a reasonable explanation, or service. I was told there was I but when I called the Service Company, they said they no Longer service any JET product. The 2nd time I called, he said take it up to a town near Hemet, I left a message on that phone and never heard a word. So it's been sitting in my garage, unuseable, with no hope of ever using it. Thanks JET for LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. ... show more

  • Well made
Style: Benchtop drill plates
Generally, the JWDP-12 drill press seems to be very well made and can be set up to do accurate work. Like any other tool, some time spent ensuring that everything is set square is worthwhile. In this case, I found that the initial set up was very straight-forward. I like the table post holder as it allows me to use a cross-slide vise from another manufacturer, one that also offers a mount for the vise that fist the same post configuration. I found the laser cross-hair to be very close, the chuck set in place accurately, and any run-out is nearly imperceptible. The only negative for me, and it is a minor one, is that the table is not adjustable to 90 degrees. I do have a work-around for that, but it would be nice if the table could be set to a vertical position. ... show more
