  • Cheap and works
I have a number of issues with this blaster but overall I think it was a good purchase. Mine came basically as a welded shell with a lid pre attached with the light installed inside of it already then the bottom section and the feet and all the associated hoses and fittings needed to be put together. It was kind of a pain putting all the bolts in and such but it all lined up correctly and went together well. I bought it for my dad and he has 30 gallon or so air compressor which does provide enough air and works well. We used fine glass bead media and it does a good job making a fine finish. As far as the negatives, first and foremost is the pickup tube for the media. It was too long to situate in the middle of the bottom pan and gave it problems picking up sand. We took it back apart cut it to about 5/8 of its original length and now it picks up the sand and works just fine. Next is the lighting. The light provides ample light though the light looks pretty cheap and im not confident that it will last long but should be easy to replace eventually. The light switch provided did not work at all and there were no directions on how to wire the switch nor were connections on the switch marked. I tried multiple combinations of wire to terminal placement and was unable to make the switch work. I ended up hard wiring the light to the connections in the little box on the side where the plug fits into. It works but well eventually find a good switch. My last negative remark would be that without a dust collector, a fair amount of dust comes out around the edges of the lid. This could be mitigated by replacing the seal on the lid with a better quality weather stripping type material. The cabinet does have to two vents however and I plan on hooking a vacuum to the back vent with a dust separator to a bucket so we can recycle the media. Also as a side note, the directions as a whole, are terrible. Basically useless to be honest but in the manual it says not to use more than 10 pounds of media inside at one time. I suppose it would depend on the type of media and how much volume it takes up but as far as fine glass bead media, 10 pounds was barely enough to cover the trough in the bottom of the pan. I put a whole 25 pound bucket in and it was just about right. I think I could have used maybe 30 pounds but 25 worked good. If you want a blasting cabinet that works 100% perfect right out of the box then this one may not be for you but if you dont mind a little tweaking to get it working how you want then this is a good cheap option. ... show more

  • Solid Frame..... Many adjustments needed
To begin, I like the media cabinet, even though it has some problems. Let me identify the primary faults and explain.. 1) The lower media suction tube is to small of a diameter and jambs frequently. Solution: replaced with a larger diameter tube. 2) Required blasting media quantity. I immediately used 50 lbs of Alumn Oxide, and this was still not enough to keep the blasting consistent. The lower tray does does hold enough media and the will ultimately suck air. Solution (temporary): Add more blasting media. 3) If you intend to install the vacuum port, the internal filter is TOO restrictive. Solution: drill additional holes in the vacuum element to remove more airborne dust 4) Plexiglass window is to thin and worthless. Included plastic protectors are good, but after about 6 hours of blasting, the window needs replaced. Solution: Replace with Lexan and clear automotive film. Question to ask: Would I buy again? Answer: Yes, but I want a bigger hopper and a better window. The issue which bugged me the most was the feed tube sucking air because there was not enough media at the input. ... show more

  • Buy another
UPDATE: New gun worked 2 minutes. Dont buy this junk. Going to find a good gun and pickup tube. To much hassle to disasemble and return. Havent used it yet. Glass was broke but they replaced it. Gun was blowing air from suction hose instead of vacuum. They replacing gun. Came with a metal tube thatd supposed to help keep suction tube under sand, looks like a failure with one little 3/8 hole for picking up sand. So far junk even though i like the cabinet and good size for me. If new gun dont fix it, im returning it. ... show more

  • Be prepared for leaks
I did not expect to get a cadillac for the price. The instructions are worthless. Thank goodness I had a basic understanding of how they work. I sealed the bottom of the unit with silicone before putting it on. You will need a drift punch to help line up the bolts to assemble. Mine has a couple of corners bent that had to be straightened. After hooking up the pick-up tube and the airline I tested it out. Media was blowing in my face and I noticed media leaking out of the pan. I caulked all the seams from the inside and ran silicone around the seal on the lid. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. You will need to hook up a vacuum to remove the dust so you can see what you working on. It will do what I need on small projects. ... show more

  • Not as good as it could be
The air inlet is in the rear corner. If the part you're blasting is larger than a loaf of bread, the air inlet is in the way. The media suction hose is too short, no matter how large the part. The light works fine but its power supply gets HOT. Beware!

  • A nice product
Nice compact size, light table top. Lighting works but doesn’t illuminate a lot inside. Had to use my own connections for air as the ones that came with the product keep breaking (not over tightening, but would shear off). The seams do allow for escaping media (especially fine aluminum oxide) at the top side and drain. The window is nice with replacement shields, but viewing is a bit tough. But all in all for the price, would purchase again. ... show more

  • Count those screws
Hopefully you have a few extra screws yourself. My unit was a bit damaged, some bent pieces. I'm barely finishing the assembly, about an hour. Have yet to test it.
