I had two pioneers that failed at the same time. After some testing, I found that it wasn't a factory wiring issue, the pioneers just quit without making a sound. Anyway, I never thought too much of the sound quality of the Pioneers, but they were ok. I put these in their place and with my Kenwood head unit rated 50w rms per channel, they sound great. They really pickup the range between the sub and the normal speakers very well. Excellent choice for my old F150. Update: I bought them for $89 last week. This week I went to go buy another pair to replace the rear speakers and they are $109. Possibly a coincidence, but there are other options at $109. ... show more

I bought these to upgrade the old, tired, stock speakers in my 14 year old truck. I installed a Pioneer AVHX3800BHS 2-DIN Receiver head unit to upgrade the truck, but the stock speakers just didn't cut it. While the JBL's are an improvement, they really lack the depth of bass I had hoped for... I have JBL speakers for my home theater, including towers, center, and rear channels, and in my kitchen as well. I also LOVE my Harman Kardon BT headphones, suffice to say I have been impressed by Harman audio products for years, and have grown loyal over the last decade because of the quality of sound reproduction. Unfortunately, these fall short of my expectations.. -- I have opted to try DEI 050371 Boom Mat Speaker Baffles to see if that improves the sound quality. I bought these for rear doors to go with the GTO609C's. Installed components in front about a month ago, I like them more and more every time I turn my car on. Replaced factory rears with these. Sound is a great match for the fronts. Everthing just sound right through these. The adjustable angle on tweeter does a pretty good job of bringing soundstage up off floor. Would have preferred an eyeball pivot instead of fixed angle. I'm being very petty on this, it's just my preference on tweeter mounts. Sound quality is excellent with really good mid bass. I have them x-over 12db@60 hz. The tweeter x-over is actually a true 12db passive x-over. Quality stuff on a small circuit board screwed to backside of speaker. Well made JBL another quality product. I was extremely happy with the 609s which is why I came back for more. These are a perfect compliment to them. Excellent value. Do yourself a favor and put a 75x4 amp on these. Your not going to blow the windows out, but it will be clear, clean, punchy as hell and loud. Buy them you know you want to, you won't be disappointed. ... show more

I bought these thinking they would be ok. After installing them, I was so surprised of the sound quality and major output these speakers provide!! I have them running off a a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp, 75x4 power. The midbass is very strong and the highs are clear and I notice sounds I never heard before. I do have them crossed over so I was not using these for bass notes, but I bet they would give out some nice bass as well. Very good speakers, I would definately buy them in the future again. The install was also very simple, they fit perfectly in the stock holes. I would purchase the speaker clips so you don't have to cut the factory wires. ... show more

I installed these speakers as replacements for my factory speakers. The factory speakers in my car actually sounded pretty decent: okay mid range and half decent highs. However, they did get a bit distorted at higher volume and I wanted a better sounding speaker system overall. These JBLs are definitely a step up! The highs are as best to be expected without additional tweeters and the mid range is decent; and that's just from being driven by my Pioneer head unit. I would assume they would sound even better with an additional amp. The mid range does lack some so I won't give five stars. However, I would still recommend these speakers as they are a great value. ... show more

I bought these to replace the factory speakers in my 2002 Ford Explorer. I have a Pioneer head unit with 25 watts per channel going to them. The sound is clean, no distortion, very clear even at low volumes. I’m going to put in a four channel amp. The only thing I’d suggest is adding a set of tweeters to help disperse the highs throughout the vehicle. As is though they sound great, let them break in before trying to drive them hard. I had a set of 5.25 GTO’s in my pickup. They worked well even with low power amps, but can definitely handle a lot of power. These I’m sure will be just as good. ... show more

Way better then stock. Not a lot of bass but crystal clear sound no distortion at hi volume with stock head unit. Get the wire harness for easier instalation. Note that when installing these in the ford F150 fronts, that IF using the additional wireing harness tape or zip tie the slack in the harness as the additional wiring will rattle against the sheet metal in the door as I found out. Yep, had to take the door panel back off, speaker back out, secure the slack in the wire harness and reassemble. What a pain. Hope this helps 👍 ... show more
