Wow, finally a stackable white plate that is not too heavy or too thin and looks and feels great! These are really pretty in person. The white is creamy and they look expensive. I have the white stackable mercer plates from crate and barrel and these actually look way better. I'm always afraid those will break easily and the color is a little off and they were not worth the money. These are thicker but still lightweight and the color is really pretty. I would note that they are not all identical in the center. Some have some slight but noticeable waves or rippling circling the center and some are plain and flat. It's very minor but thought it was worth mentioning. It doesn't bother me. The bottom is fairly well sealed so they shouldn't scratch surfaces. I am definitely going to add larger sizes to complete my set. This was a good find. ... show more

With their rimmed circumference, these are a helpful addition for serving foods that may drip over the side such as desserts with ice cream / special sauce or salad dressings. The smaller than usual dinner plate size is also useful if you are trying to limit calorie intake. A full plate signals the brain that you are getting enough food vs feeling deprived if you receive a small amount of food on a large plate. I've been needing smaller plates this size for a while, and was skeptical about all the rave reviews these were getting. Could they really be that great? The answer is an emphatic YES! I absolutely love these plates! They are perfect size for a tortilla, or for a small salad, snack, etc. I don't always want a giant dinner plate, and a little saucer is usually too small, so these are just right. The plates are thin, and the whole stack of 6 hardly takes up any space in the cupboard at all. Yet being porcelain they are very strong. I'm a big fan of how they are flat across the entire plate, and then have a little lip around the edge to keep liquids contained. Anyway, seriously, these are fantastic plates at a very fair price. ... show more

These small plates could have a lot of uses in your home, around my house plates sometimes end up under plants. One thing about these plates, they are heavy and they have a very wide rim so the amount of space to actually put cake or whatever you want in the middle is pretty small. They have sort of an Institutional look to them like something you would get in the line at a hospital cafeteria. I wouldn't necessarily classify these plates as dinner plates unless you are on a diet, more for salad or dessert. That being said the plates are heavy but not too thick. I particularly liked the raised lip, something I haven't seen on similar size plates. I can't comment on their resistance to chipping as I haven't abused them. They did make it through the dishwasher on a high heat cycle, however. They survived the microwave, also. The plates came nicely packaged in a foam lined box with cardboard dividers between the plates. They appear to be of good quality and being Porcelain, should last a long time. They would complement any set of white dishes or in my case, stand-alone dessert plates. ... show more

I'm not a huge fan of large dinner plates. My previous plates were pottery barn salad plates because the dinner ones were huge! I like to serve reasonable amounts of food that look silly on such large plates. These plates are a perfect size. They are salad plate size but for me, we use that every day. I've had these run through the dish washer and had no trouble. They look great (even if my honey garlic sauce was a little thin). We've used them for about 2 weeks and they've been our every day plates no problem. ... show more
