I use straight scissors each month to groom my two schnauzers. The scissors need to be sharp or they pull the hair rather than cut it cleanly These scissors pulled and would not smoothly cut with precision, even the first time I used them. My old scissors do a better job.

I am not a professional groomer, and only do light trimming on my Aussie. I made a mistake ordering these shears, and thought I was getting thinning shears (my fault). That being said, they seem to work ok. I think occasionally they do seem to push the hair instead of cutting it cleanly. They are very long and sharp at the end, but again that is my fault in not correctly reading the description. If you are a professional groomer, you are probably used to using something sharp like this on a squirming dog, but for me it is a bit scary. Luckily my girl is pretty calm and cooperates when I trim her coat. The color is beautiful! Know directions, and I don't know why they are adjustable, or how to adjust. ... show more
