This is a futon mattress and is exactly what I expected, if I wanted a traditional mattress I wouldn’t of got this. I’m in my thirties and was sleeping on a TWIN previously that caused back pain, couldn’t move, and my dog couldn’t fit with me. I got this as I’m not in a permanent position for a “real” mattress yet. However, switching from a twin to a full sized futon mattress my back pain has significantly gone away and my dog can sleep with me again. It’s a great temporary solution! I grew up in Asia so I dealt with many futons and I’ve always liked them. My work requires me to move around a lot and lift a lot, so I’ve had quite a bit of pain in my back and knees. The comfort of the futon is pretty good, it’s not going to be as comfortable as a bed but I like it better. It has helped with my back pain and I no longer wake up in pain. It requires very little maintenance and doesn’t take much space, plus you can fold it and put it in your closet if needed. I bought this futon to go under my son's loft bed. It arrived very quickly, and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The print on the futon fabric is beautiful and I didn't realize it came with a matching cover, straps and storage/carrying bag. It's perfect for lounging and reading at bedtime. I bought this to use as a layer on top of a pull out couch bed that already has a mattress. We basically put this layer on top of the mattress. You definitely cannot fold this into the couch along with the mattress after use. We got this because we had a guest staying with us for more than a few days and wanted them to be more comfortable on the pull out couch bed.
