First, the good. This comes hermetically sealed, compressed, easy to open, and pretty much immediately expands to full size. This is a very comfortable Japanese mattress, even though it is made in China. When one lays on it it feels very much like an extra firm regular "American" bed, very supportive, but also soft where it needs to be. If you look at the second picture, you can see the innards, which consist of the outer cover, a cotton layer, the foam insert, and then of course the cotton layer again with the outer cover. This is probably best for young people-people who can get up off the floor easily. Also people who don't have arthritis in the hips or shoulders. But for those of us who are lucky enough to have avoided that (so far) this is comfortable for back sleepers, stomach sleepers and side sleepers. It has enough give for side sleepers that it is comfortable on the hips. So the mattress itself gets an unqualified recommendation! Use it straight on the carpeted floor, use it on a futon, or get yourself a Tatami mat and go full Japanese! However, I docked this one full star. There are two reasons for this. First of all, there are no instructions. Even the pamphlet that comes with it is for a larger size, regular mattress. They don't tell you how to fold this when you are done with that, but it does come with a carrying case. What they don't tell you is that it is a nightmare to get this compressed enough to fit into the case. They give you a couple of straps that are clearly designed to help compress, but they do not do a particularly good job. I think you would need about six of them in order to get this sufficiently compressed to fit easily into the carrying case. Alternatively, they could've added a little more material to the carrying case, and it wouldn't have cost them more than a couple of dollars. But as it is? It's horrific. I am not joking when I say it took me almost an hour to get this thing into the case. It might go easier with two people, but with one person it's brutal. An instruction booklet with a few hints would have been nice. When you do roll this up, or fold it, whichever you're supposed to do, make sure to do it so that you are rolling or folding along the short end, otherwise the case won't be long enough. So in a nutshell, great mattress, no instructions, horribly designed case.

This is a good quality, well made, foam mattress from BEDLORE. I ordered the Twin size in the Dark Gray color option (which actually looks black to me) and it arrived in pristine condition with no weird or offensive odors. The manufacturer thoughtfully included a nice bag ripper to easily remove the mat from its vacuum packaging without damage - which was a nice little bonus - as well as a sturdy storage/carrying bag and straps. This is a surprisingly heavy and dense mattress. It has a fully quilted (and zippered) microfiber cover that has a soft hand feel. I actually ordered this mattress for my dogs; these Japanese-style mattresses offer much better quality and value than standard dog beds. And, while this one is not quite as thick as their current mattress, they certainly don't have any complaints! Having this second mattress is a huge benefit to me, as I no longer have to deal with the sad eyes and whines when I change rooms until I am forced to go fetch their single mat. At this point, they have completely abandoned their expensive dog beds and refuse to even lay on them - and I honestly don't blame them. This mat is so much more supportive and comfortable. My senior dog, especially, seems to appreciate this particular mat. It is not so squishy that he was to wrestle his way out of it, but the quality foam and fill are kind on his old bones. I am very happy and impressed with this mattress, and I would absolutely recommend it. (For dog or human use!) It is well constructed, easy to clean, and very supportive. Currently priced at $82.99 (with coupon) it offers exceptional value for your money. Both the fur babies - and I - love it. Thank you so much, BEDLORE - excellent product!

This mattress has been the perfect addition for guests. We were in a fast pinch to get some bedding at our house quickly as guests were coming over quickly, unexpectedly and we needed something affordable. This twin ized fouton mattress was exactly what we needed and it was very convienent. This arrived in a small box and was vacuumed sealed. I careful opened the bag with my son's child-proof scissors to ensure safe cutting around the fabric and immediately you could hear the vacuum seal, one of my most favorite sounds. This came out of the bag quickly and started to unravel, and unmold. We had a prior frame from an old futon and this fit perfectly. The dimensions matched the frame just right with no variance. The fabric has a nice feel t it and design. The thickness is very plush and we didn't feel the frame much at all. I love the zipper option to allow any needed washing. The zipper also ensures a layer of protection for the foam insert, especially from any bed bugs. I've never had this issue but always get a zipper option if it is offered. This mattress is versatile and compact enough that I can add it to our living room, game room or even my son's walk-in closet as we turned the floor into a reading nook. We added this mattress in there as he wanted to nap in there, and we turned his nook into a fort camping space. This mattress was ideal and comfortable, my son fell fast asleep as he played and read books. This also was a great guest bed and helped us in a pinch when we had no additional bedding to offer visitors. We wil use this mattress often now that we have it!

I was pretty disappointed with this Japanese floor mattress. It’s listed as being 3 inches thick, but it’s actually 2 inches. It’s also extremely firm, with very little give in the foam. By morning, my hips and back were aching. I’ve used other 2–3 inch pads over the years, and the foam on those were much more comfortable. Since no one in our household wants to sleep on this mattress, we’ve been using it as a play mat for the kids instead, and it has been holding up well for that purpose.
